MYLES SEWELL has recovered from hamstring soreness and will line up against Frankston in the Victorian Football League in Ballarat tomorrow.

Sewell returns after missing one week. He was left out of the home clash with Gold Coast largely as a precautionary measure, given he is one of the Selkirk Roosters' most important players as their premiership defence gains momentum.

Nick Couch has recovered from a corked thigh suffered against Gold Coast and will play.

However, captain Shaune Moloney remains on the injury list with a strained hamstring.

This is the third game in a row Moloney has a missed.

North Ballarat coach Gerard FitzGerald will determine who Sewell replaces after tonight's last training session of the week.

In the Hunt

KARMICHAEL Hunt's on-again, off-again VFL appearance in Cairns is on again after a ''very effusive father'' prompted a change of heart from Gold Coast coach Guy McKenna.

McKenna had decided to rest his star recruit from Saturday’s game between the Gold Coast and Bendigo Bombers at Cazalys despite Hunt’s eagerness to continue his Aussie rules education in the Far North.

But a chat with AFL Cairns vice-president Gordon Dixon, also the father of Gold Coast recruit Charlie Dixon, reminded McKenna of just how much Hunt’s appearance would mean in his home state.

"It prompted me because I remember having a chat that morning with Karmichael," McKenna said.

"He’d said, ‘I know I’m down for a rest but there’s no chance of me having a run in Cairns is there?’"

REIGNING premier North Ballarat can start thinking about another top-two finish in the Victorian Football League.
The Roosters have the draw to secure first or second for the third season in a row.

Fresh from accounting for the 13th-placed Gold Coast by 29 points in a low-scoring affair in Ballarat on Saturday, the Roosters face five of the bottom six teams in the remaining six home and away rounds.

This gives them a big chance of going into the finals on a 10-game winning streak.

Port back with Bomber demolition

GARY Ayres had assessed it as Port Melbourne's biggest challenge since the 2008 VFL grand final.

His team was coming off successive defeats, was unsettled by the loss of Chris Cain and Malcolm Lynch, and in the Bendigo Bombers was meeting a likely finalist and a side that beat it earlier in the season.

Little wonder Ayres bore a smile as wide as the Norm Goss Senior grandstand after the Boroughs' doubled up their visitors in conditions made dreadfully difficult by a strong, swirling, biting wind whistling to the Williamstown Rd end.

Port had first use of it and rammed home 8.0 in the first quarter, four coming from power forward Adrian Bonaddio. He finished with six goals.

MYLES SEWELL is the latest big name to fall by the wayside for VFL reigning premier North Ballarat.
Sewell joins captain Shaune Moloney and number one ruckman Orren Stephenson will be on the sidelines for today's clash with Gold Coast at Eureka Stadium Ballarat.

Sewell was ruled out last night with hamstring soreness - the same problem which has Moloney out for the a second week.

Stephenson is recovering from a broken hand and is expected to miss up to another six weeks.

Selkirk Roosters football manager Marg Richards said Sewell pulled up sore after the win over Collingwood a week ago, but trained on Wednesday night.

Sewell, Moloney and Stephenson are the three most important players in the North Ballarat line-up as the VFL's reigning best and fairest, captain and competition's number one ruckman respectively.

VFL Tipping update

LEADERS BOARD

After 11 rounds there are several tipsters within reach of the leading pair Daniel Bourne and Rick Dennis. The pair are on 59 winners and lead by 2 from Port diehard Bobby Borough, Casey's Kain Pollard, Inside Football's Paul Amy, seagull supporter Rockford and old Oakleigh devils fan Peter 'Willo' Williamson who is having a good season with his VAFA club Monash Gryphons. With seven rounds to go anything can happen and many tipsters and right in the hunt for the coveted top spot.

BUSTLING BILLY BULLDOG HECTOR PICK SEVEN WINNERS

Old time Footscray fan who is also a seagull supporter was the only tipster to select all seven winners. Billy was following the scraggers in the days of John Jillard, David Darcy, Lee Perusich, Harry Frei, Ricky Spargo and Freddie Cook. Billy collects $30. Another $30 will go to the tipster that picks all seven winners next round. If more than one tipster picks seven the tipster nearest the aggregate score for the Port v Bendigo clash will collect. If no one picks seven it will jackpot to the following week.

Coburg consolidates to down Port

MUCH like a faulty split system, the Coburg Tigers have blown hot and cold this season.
Seven days after falling to lowly Werribee, the Tigers came out on Saturday to pin a surprise 21-point loss on Port Melbourne at a heavy TEAC Oval.

The visitors led at every change.

Compounding Port's regret at a rare home defeat, Malcolm Lynch picked up an ankle injury and Callum Sinclair was reported for charging and Phil Raymond for striking.

Both were named in the best on a day when some of the Boroughs' topline players struggled to have an impact.

Steve Brewer decorated his 100th senior appearance with a typically classy, creative performance.

Upgrade call

From the Werribee Star

THE Werribee Football Club has called for an urgent upgrade as players are forced to practice in decrepit facilities.

General manager Mark Penaluna last week appealed for a $100,000 grant during the council budget submissions to overhaul the clubhouse.

He said the club was in desperate need of new change rooms for players and umpires, lecture rooms, gym, rehab facilities, canteen, bar and disabled access and toilets.

“Our current bar is an emergency service caravan we had to purchase from the Salvation Army and it is forever getting vandalised,” he said.

“Our canteen facilities were used by Apex (service organisation) from about 20 years ago.

“These are some of the things we have had to use as make up facilities - and it’s just not suitable.”

Mr Penaluna said the gymnasium doubles as a change room for umpires.
