Sam Carpenter
Body:

What a fantastic story!! Congratulations to Sam on being selected for his first VFL Senior match! Any first year TAC Cup graduate should be very proud of themselves to be playing football at the highest level outside of the AFL, especially only 4 Rounds into the season. Given what most people would see as a disability, Sam has shown that differences in life are only what you make of them and I for one will continue to watch with interest the career of a young man who seems to be very well rounded, determined and dedicated. Hopefully many more people to be encouraged by the due rewards coming to a hard working young man and athlete.

Didn't hear it, as left for uni but would have loved to hear it. Remember reading a similar story in the TAC Cup recrd last year and the Herald Sun gave him a good write up last year.

Good luck to him, according todays Hearld-Sun (It will be a big enough deal on Saturday when he lines up in the centre for the biggest game of his life in front of THOUSANDS of fans) Unfortunatly this game is at Geelong so he will be playing only in front of 200-300.It would have got 3000 down at Frankston as they have been getting good crowds down thier last few years. As stated before crap to watch games at Geelong just empty no feeling.

In relation to the story on Page 7 of today's Herald Sun ... Personally i would have thought his TAC Cup Grand Final which he played on the MCG on AFL Grand Final would be right up there??

Only Tassie and Bendigo are worse options for the theatre of Sammy's first game, but maybe the publicity generated already will draw a few more down there. Hopefully the media that will no doubt front for the game now don't outnumber the spectators. This is what I have always been on about with this competition. There are just so many of these stories in the VFL, even though Sam's may be bigger than most. This competition must survive, and use these posititves and "good news" stories to generate more and more exposure. Much better to discuss than some of the other garbage floating about.

It's players like Sam Carpetner that keeps people like myself going to the football. He is an inspiration to everyone, and deserves his spot on merit. It gave everyone a thrill to see such a determined effort by Frankston in both the reserves and seniors last week against Sandy, and shows how hard work can pay off. A pity we cant get a telephone line from Frankston and broadcast the game. Will try and get Sam on our Saturday Morning Program

:D Sam Carpenter played a very good game last Sunday against the Sandy ressies where he clearly beat his opponent and showed his skills as a senior footballer in the making. I can only wish him all the best in his future. well done Sam. go zebs. zebra :D

Lets turn a great story into a cheap shot. Gee its tiresome. More power to you Sammy.

Came across a new article on Sam Carpenter on 7AFL. He was more than capable at VFL level, including notching up a B&F at the Dolphins at Reserve / DL level.  It's well worth a read.
