Bullants V Nth Ballarat
Body:
Outstanding win by the Bullants, in fact one of its best wins since the 2003 alignment with Carlton. The game was scrap for the most part, but with Josh Kennedy adding a touch of class to a very even Bullants outfit the Bullants edged ahead in the second-half to win by 16-points. Kennedy's forward play and ruck work was pivotal to the Bullants match winning third quarter. Bullants captain Frank Raso was another top performer with his first-half efforts ensuring that the Bullants were never far off the pace. After a shaky first quarter that included several 'soft' efforts and sensing a blowout, Bullants coach Barry Mitchell launched a fearsome tirade at his players. They responed well only to give up a two goal lead very late in the term. The Bullants third quarter produced some of their best football of the season as they outscored Nth Ballarat 5.5 to 0.1. The Bullants can take many positives out of a game that saw VFL listed players such as Micevski, Bransgrove and Colbert all spending large periods of the game on the ground. Making his debut, Bransgrove standing at 167cm, [surely makes him the shortest player in the VFL] was very good and played the majority of the game on the ball. The break comes at a good time for the Bullants, who will need to produce a huge performance to defeat Geelong in two weeks time.
