Time for some changes at Werribee
Body:
Not that long ago such a vibrant club, with a really good list, atmosphere at their games with big crowds and seemingly a key team in the competition. Now, too often an inconsistent mess - beaten today by the hapless Box Hill Hawks. I don't think we have too many Werribee supporters on here, and the ones who are have other restrictions that stop them from commenting but surely they need some changes down there. For some time now I've believed Axe is not the man to coach that footy club - nothing against him but I just can't see the Bees getting anywhere in the short term. The club seem to have a lot of faith in the current man but there's a new breed of coach belting on the door that Werribee would be foolish to ignore if the clubs fortunes don't turn soon. Many astute VFL followers will tell you Werribee had the best list in the VFL last year - a list that proved incapable of making the finals. Many of that list were frustrated with the 'selection issues' last season. Fact. Werribee's attempts to edge into the Western Jets territory caused some conflict and was aggressive and unreasonable, while the Bulldogs also piked on what was once a successful partnership. They've had a few good wins this year, but they're inconsistent. The reality is they aren't far away from a finals berth still. But its sad to see the turn in fortune that club has had over the past two years particularly. Even more disheartening when you look at their list and see some loyal blokes and people who have given that footy club very good service over 5-10 years such as Gleeson, Podsy and Henderson chugging away on a train that doesn't seem to be going anywhere. What is wrong with them?
