Finals still possible - Moreland Leader article
Body:
Written by Brad Bishop: Finals are officially on the Coburg Tigers' agenda. David Flood's boys moved to within a game of a place in the top eight after its wins in round 13 and 14. While things could have come crashing down yesterday (sunday) against Frankston, a game played after the Leaders deadline, Flood last week said his charges had entertained the thought of playing finals for the first time this year. "I think it's in their back of their bind" he said. "I haven't made it a big emphasis at the moment because we just need to keep chipping away at what we're doing. "But, I think the boys realise now that they are close." "Nine wins will definitely get you in the finals this year and possibly eight will." Coburg notched its fourth win of the season with an eight-goal caning of Williamstown in woeful conditions on July 9, which followed a 23-point defeat of Geelong. Flood was happy to see his charges' efforts rewarded. "Really, our form's been reasonably consistent all year." he said. "I suppose we've learnt how to win in the last few weeks, which is a step in the right duirection." The return from injury of Richmond-listed players Kelvin Moore and Nathan Foley has played a big role in the Tigers' resurgence. Moore kicked six goals in the win over Geelong and the 19-year old Foley picked up 47 touches against Willy. "When you get some quality performances like that, it just caps off a lot of the hard work boys like Nick Raines, Eric Kuret, Trav Jorgensen and Kyle Archibald have been putting in week in, week out." Flood said. Coburg has a testing encounter with the Bullants this Sunday before hosting North Ballarat on July 30.
