Semi Finals Preview
Body:
After an amazing 1st week of the finals lets have a look at this weekend's semi finals. SATURDAY 1st Semi Final Sandringham vs North Ballarat at TEAC Oval,Port Melbourne 1:10pm (ABC TV,3XX 1611AM) North Ballarat are coming off one of the greatest turnarounds in VFA/VFL finals history. For the Zebras they come off a narrow 2 point loss at home to Williamstown. The big question in this game is can North Ballarat continue there momentum from their amazing 2nd half or will the Zebras who will have their Melbourne contingent back look to turnaround a narrow loss. They split their 2 meetings this year. I think the Zebras will be too strong for the Roosters and set up a mouth watering clash with Geelong in the 2nd Preliminary Final. Meetings in 2007: Round 8 Saturday 2nd June Austar Arena North Ballarat 18-15(123) def Sandringham 13-10(88 ) (Chester(NBa) 4 Goals, Newton(Sand) 5 goals) Cartledge and Sansbury were best for the Roosters, Summers and Dunn best for the Zebras. Round 19 Saturday 19th August Trevor Barker Oval,Sandringham Sandringham 17-23(125) def North Ballarat 8-14(62) (Sautner(Sand) 4 goals, Edwards,Thomas and Gregg(NBall) 2 goals each) Valenti and Poyas best for Zebras, Lower and Goodes best for the Roosters. My Tip: Sandringham by 23 points SUNDAY 2nd Semi Final Coburg Tigers vs Port Melbourne at TEAC Oval,Port Melbourne 1:10pm (ABC TV,Casey Radio,3XX 1611AM) Coburg stayed with the Cats for the first three quarters but couldn't hold on against the classy Cats. The Borough will be coming in full of confidence after a great win against the Scorpions. Coburg will get Daniel Jackson, Nick Riewoldt and a couple of others back from Richmond for this game and they look too strong for the Borough. Can Port sustain the pressure for all 4 quarters to stick with the Tigers all day. Port do have the advantage of playing at home. Coburg won their only neeting this year comfortably. The winner of this match plays Williamstown in the 1st Preliminary Final. Only meeting in 2007: Round 12 Sunday 1st July Coburg City Oval Coburg Tigers 15-10(100) def Port Melbourne 7-17(59) (Kingsley(Cob) 4 goals, Pitt and Smith(PM) 2 goals each) Riewoldt and Shelton best for the Tigers, Pinwill and Fanning best for the Borough. My Tip: Coburg Tigers by 17 points
