Body:
Hi All. A press release from Telstra Dome and the VFL. VFL legends ‘Frosty’ Miller and Fred Cook take over at Telstra Dome Telstra Dome’s goal kicking ends are undergoing a makeover ahead of Friday night’s historic VFL Grand Final, with goal kicking legends Jim ‘Frosty’ Miller and Fred Cook replacing AFL stars Gordon Coventry and Tony Lockett. The ends, which are named after the AFL’s two all time leading goal kickers, will be temporarily changed to the COOK and MILLER ends to celebrate the VFL Grand Final between Port Melbourne and North Ballarat, to be played at Telstra Dome on Friday 26 September at 7.40pm. The re-naming is a special one-off event to celebrate the 150th year of Australian Football and will pay tribute to the contribution of two of the VFA/VFL’s most decorated players. Both players, along with Telstra Dome CEO Ian Collins AM, were on hand to unveil the new signage at Telstra Dome on Wednesday 24 September 2008. Mr Collins said Telstra Dome was pleased it could honour two of the VFA/VFL’s greatest players ahead of the Grand Final, the first to be played on the eve of the AFL Grand Final. “Fred Cook and ‘Frosty’ Miller are two of the VFL’s greatest ever goal kickers and we think it is appropriate that they be honoured ahead of this fantastic event,” Mr Collins said. “We are very excited to be hosting the both the VFL and TAC Cup Grand Finals, particularly in the 150th year of football in Victoria. “The TAC Cup and VFL showcase some of the best Australian football talent in the nation and we are happy to be a part of it.” The 2008 VFL Grand Final will be played at Telstra Dome on Friday 26 September at 7.40pm. The TAC Cup Grand Final will be played as a curtain raiser to the match and will begin at 4pm.
