GEELONG will have to make some tough calls on some talented local players when it finalises its VFL list this week.

The Cats are close to finalising their 20-strong VFL list and admit some promising youngsters will be unlucky to be axed at the final cut.

Geelong, without one AFL-listed player, surged clear to a 38-point win over Bendigo in winter-like conditions at Simonds Stadium on Saturday.

"The way we went in hard and our tackling pressure when they had the footy was great, we never gave them any space and we kept it simple," Cats VFL midfielder Troy Selwood said.

"The best thing was everyone who was vying for the last few spots on the list put the team in front of themselves.
