North Ballarat Football ground to host AFL games By 2017

THE Western Bulldogs look all set to bark in Ballarat in 2017 after concept designs for the city’s revamped Eureka Stadium were unveiled.

Bulldogs chief executive Peter Gordon has revealed negotiations with the AFL are now complete and games would be scheduled for Ballarat during the 2017 season providing construction work was finished on time.

The Doggies hope to play two games a season at Ballarat as it spreads its roots into Western Victoria.

Plans for the construction of a new 5000-seat grandstand at the north Ballarat venue will now go out to community consultation with construction work set to start next year.

Work has already begun on reducing the oval size to be the same as Etihad Stadium and realigning its orientation by 32 degrees to meet AFL and Western Bulldogs requirements.

Eureka Stadium to have a Capacity of over 11,000 and host one Australian Football League match in 2017.
Construction to start next year.

Let's hope they do no find anything in the ground in the soil tests.

Looking at two AFL games in 2017 Plugger.
No problems with any soil tests. Earth removed from a depth of one metre & all is ready for the sand in the next week or so. Just waiting for the completion of the number two oval which is almost complete.

Heath,
It's not going to be the MCG.
The existing structures will all stay with the exception of the scoreboard.

The redevelopment of the ground looks to be in full swing, with most of the Grandstand structure in place, ad seating soon to be installed.

No news of the development on the Roosters web site; I guess they are all too busy resigning.

Its fantastic to see that the AFL is putting in heaps of money to a stadium that will host a one off Afl match and can't put in a cent to help Frankston football club. Fantastic indeed.
