Things seem to moving along nicely at Frankson Park. Buckenara is a great appointment and Ive heard they have ex Hawtorn GM John Hook as an adviser to the Committee.

Very interested in who they will eventually get as the new coach, and would love to see them appoint Simon Goosey as a recruiter for the club. Best judge of football talent on the Mornington Peninsula by far and knows exactly what is needed in building a new team.

A good appointment, credit to Ian Dicker for his work on this. Now to appoint someone with expertise to run the function centre and I think the blocks will be in place to get the licence back.

Some really good appointments to the board too, 2 x council directors, Hooky from AFL Vic, David Friend from Hawthorn, Michelle Graham from Graham Quarries and some quality Dolphins people with various business and/or footy experience.

Things are heading in the right direction.

Caught Buckernara on SEN last night, said that the Dolphins would be looking to field a Senior Team with 44 on the list for 2018.

Given AFL Vic would be having a big say in what the Dolphins do you can virtually say the DL is in its last days.

I don't think that news has any bearing on the devt league, as Dolphs have made case that not having a team allows them to build stronger links with local football clubs, but you're right about the devt league having to justify itself every season just to survive.

They will know in July or early August if they will be readmitted in 2018.

Plenty of hard work been happening at Frankston. Some wonderful foundations being set for 2018.

Membership number has climbed to 583 with still 6 weeks to go.

Penty of functions have been happening inc Post Budget luncheon with Scott Morrison and Michael Kroger.

Bill Shorten showed his support and visited the club and bought a membership and a team polo shirt.

Pretty good progress considering that memberships were 400 only two weeks ago. I think the target is 600 or more which they will definitely reach. It will be great to see them back in next year. I know that the Port fans were very keen to help out, that being the reason for the good number that turned up to the aftermatch function (they were encouraged to go to the function before leaving in order to help out).

37 times Grand finalists
16 times premiers
21 times runners up - THE MIGHTY BOROUGH!

I'M PORT MELBURNE BORN,
I'M PORT MELBOURNE BRED,
I'LL BE PORT UNTIL I'M DEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The trouble with Bill Shorten ducking in and buying a membership, or Sam Newman buying 10 at Port... obviously the money helps, but I presume Bill isnt planning to come down to a game. And Sam Newman isnt getting together 10 mates to come to watch Port...

I do hope in both cases they can remind the public of the importance of these clubs though. Of course the gesture does help.
