riddle me this billy ? how and when did sandy lose control of the social club or are you listening to gossip and rumours like you normally do?
Hey clarry read the other topic I said that this is being bandied about on the St Kilda Big Footy site and asked you the question.
So clarry if you know about the "internal issues" let us ( the quickly dying breed of ex VFA supporters} all in on the secret!
Im with Bearsman 0n the other thread on this - from CEO John Mennie down the Admin have been there way to long and are past their used by date Even Judges have to retire at 70 and I think Mennie would be touching 75 and been either Pres or GM for over 30 years John Coates comes to mind.
Time for young new blood before its too late.
Every organisation needs to regenerate itself at least every ten years or so.
hey billy like i said you are taking for fact what is wtitten or said by other people just for the record their WILL be changes at the end of the year including volenteers who are moving on interesting that nobody has stepped up to say that they can do better in the last 20 years as for new blood and standing alone which will happen they will need to raise app 500k per year to supplement the money raised from the social club [our social club] currently around 200k-230k amazing how winning 8 flags in a relative short time can smooth over critics until harder times come around. CLARRY
The takeover of the pub in Mordy isn't looking good
we"ll wait and see kenny
The pub owners are leaning towards selling it to developers. Our offer is still on the table but they are getting alot better offers from others.
lets hope that whatever happens the club survives and grows strong. good luck to who ever steps up to the crease because they will need it . i think most of the volunteers are retiring at seasons end and a few board positions will be available as well lots of hard work to be done. clarry
I need convincing pubs are the rivers of gold for footy clubs. Social attitudes have changed, less bar trade and less lazy $$ for the pokies.
It is interesting the pub mentioned is not in the Sandy area, I surpose the theory is liberate some some cash from the neighbours rather from the Bayside residents who need all thieir spare cash for Council rates
If a club puts all its financial eggs in the pub/pokies basket, then that encourages complacency with respect to securing corporate sponsorship which is necessary for long term sustained financial security.
Would be a massive error chasing pokies as the lifeblood of your football club at the expense of local businesses backing you and the community in a positive way.
Looks likesandy would have to make $500,000 from the pokies to balance the books if St Kilda were to pull out
I dont know if that level of profit would be made from a pub in Mordi
