Billy how do you work out sandringham ??? They kick 0.9 against willy, then flog port at port, port happen to.beat willy. Today Sandy cough up a 32 point lead to draw against winless coburg. Football is a funny game. North Melbourne 0.7.7 score today at casey makes some of the world cup soccer scores look great. LOL. Very strange that we have had two goalless scores in 3 weeks. Welcome back 1880s footy !!!!!!!!

vfa,Its virtually an AFL seconds comp now and if you look at Reserves/Seconds comps over time they always were hard to predict. It depends on injuries to first 18 players and how players that are dropped perform as some spit the dummy and dont try all that hard you also have players not 100% fit coming back from injury and anyway results in a seconds comp never really matter.to club supporters.

The conditions were shocking at Casey today about the same as the recent Sandy v Willy match so its not such a shock North seconds didnt score a goal.

The worst conditions I ever saw at a VFA match was against Northcote in the early 1960s on the Merri Creek mud heap that was Westgarth Oval those days with torrential rain all day and still the scores ended up something like 2.4 to 2.2 with Nortcote winning on the bell from a free kick

Still I did get some satisfaction today seeing the Saints get their arses kicked by Port Adelaide LOL

The worst i have seen was a Waverley v box hill game at Central reserve in early 80s where box hill upset Waverley. Still despite the recent conditions you would expect both sandringham of 3 weeks ago and north today to get at least one goal. In my time following the dragons westgarth street was far better than some of the other grounds surface in particular box hill and preston. Best surface was easily beach road and junction oval. I went to North port oval for port v willy and surface was not too bad at all. Looked heaps better than casey fields did on tv.

vfa, Yep Box Hill, Preston, Coburg,Yarraville and Dandenong could all be very bad during wet winters.

Oakleigh and Camberwell before both were resurfaced in the 1960s could alco be mudheaps.

Its only the last couple of decades that Noth Port has gone down hill before that it was one of the best wet weather grounds apart from the centre wicket area in Melbourne along with  Beach Road Oval and the Junction Oval in the VFL..

vfa

Beach road and junction oval easily the pick with junction oval getting the nod as best surface. Most of footy grounds throughout the state were mud heaps in the old days especially deep into the winter months. Much better drainage and surface these days.

Did coburg get ripped off in a controversial finish ?

Bearsman

Dont know about ripped off but dead set stiff...must be heart breaking for everyone concerned.

The champagne corks will be poping at Coburg at about 5pm next Sunday though after they beat the Dolphins at home . First win of the year coming up for sure. Dolphs have lost their way after good signs early in the year but its all fallen apart in the last month.  Long line of injuries to important players hasnt helped, and their two best players Fordham (leg) and Pierce (hammy) went down yesterday.

If Coburg bring their form of the last two weeks they will win easily.

paul

Important few weeks for Frankston and Coburg, on top of obviously a huge game this weekend.

Dolphs have Coburg, Blues and North Melbourne in next three games, then a tough finish, they need to pinch a win or two here to get some sort of momentum to take into the off-season for recruiting and retaining.

Burgers have Frankston, Werribee and Blues in three of their next four games. Same deal for them but even moreso without a win on the board so far and without the off-field position Frankston are slowly getting themselves into.
