Casey look too strong. They have a very good side in. Would be interesting though if the doggies beat gws then they will be pumped out in the west.

Sportsbet Odds

Casey  1.40 v Footscray  2.98

Who does everyone think will win? I reckon Casey by 2 or 3 goals.

The corporate bookies bet 26.00 Casey at the start of the year.

Casey for mine but the Dogs were awesome last week against Collingwood.

Strangely, Peter Gordon was on ABC radio this morning with Jon Faine & this game wasn't even mentioned by Gordon.

Casey easy

It will be a tough ask for the Dogs. Agree, Casey by 5 goals.

Well you were all wrong The Dogs won easily in the end.

A really good effort in a game that surprised.  Casey Scorpions looked a shadow of their lead-up finals performances and were outclassed and outworkd by a very even Footscray performance.

I'll post up articles as they start to come in.  Congratulations to Lin Jong as well for his Norm Goss medal winning effort.

From the Western Bulldogs official website...

An eight goal to none third term has powered the Footscray Bulldogs to their second VFL Premiership in three years, after defeating minor-premiers Casey Scorpions by 31-points at Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Three weeks after the Scorpions handed the ‘Scray  a heavy defeat in the Qualifying Final, the Bulldogs reversed the result to lift the premiership cup with a 13.19 (97) to 10.6 (66) win.

Lin Jong was influential in the victory and was awarded the Norm Goss Medal as best afield for a dominant midfield display, while Nick Jamieson kicked three goals for the victors.

After the Scorpions entered the main break with momentum all in their favour and a one goal lead, the Bulldogs were inspired coming out of half time.

Tom Cambell and Nick Jamieson both kicked a pair of goals for the term, as the Bulldogs put the Scorpions to the sword kicking 8.4 to 0.0.

Casey Scorpions   2.1  6.3  6.3  10.6 (66)
Footscray Bulldogs   2.7  4.9  12.13  13.19 (97)

How did the game look on TV? The crowd of 17,000 seemed a little over the actual figure.

Was the TAC Cup crowd any good?

The game is on far too early (and the VFL game on far too late) to make it worthwhile turning up to try and catch a bit of the U18s.. You're left with almost 2 hours of nothing in between.

I'm guessing that a lot of Bulldog supporters were a little emotionally exhausted after Saturday night. In general I think Footscrays support has dropped off a little, possibly due to the success of the club at AFL level.

It's just a shame that the atmosphere really lacks at Etihad and if you yell out in support, you're just about getting an echo.

I know there is a lot of negative comment here about North Port Oval, but I really think the competition needs a more intimate venue that reflects it's suburban roots.

Back on the TV coverage, how was the call today? Im hoping they mentioned some of Springvale's history in this competition and would like to have some of Footscrays pre-1925 history.

Hopefully the TV ratings were up again in 2016 for the GF.
