Both Richmond and Port have pretty good sides in. If this was at Port I would say the borough would win. Now this has been shifted to Put Road not so sure. Being Round 1 this game could be hard to pick. Even though Port have lost some handy players they still have a pretty good team in.  The GF replay will be a decent game. Pity Ch7 has the commonwealth games on. Even the AFLs Carlton v Collingwood game tomorrow night has been demoted tfrom the main Ch7 station.

Agree VFA, the Borough have selected a side with plenty of experience despite the loss of quality players over summer. Hopefully with so much of the playing list retained and selected this week, the playing style and cohesiveness should be there early.

The move of the game to Richmond though.. It brings it right back to level pegging for me.

I think Port should get over the line.. Just!

Port by 21. Theirs been some over confident tipping on big footy, Richmond have been tipped to win by 48 and 200 points !!!!

As poor a performance as I can remember in recent history. Very un Port Melbourne like effort.

The Borough's best Anastasio by a fair way.. Tried hard all day and spent a lot more time in the midfield than usual.

I'll have more of a post mortem over the next day or two.. Very disappointing!

Thats a shocker for Port but I think this season some of the AFL reserves sides will dominate the comp.

They were way too tall for us. We could rarely compete in marks and in packs. Second to the ball, they ran in numbers, having many options as opposed to us that when we had options we were slow and hesitant, which was due to Richmonds relentless pressure. Got into the 50 finding loose men on too many occasions. Came out hard and we got shell shocked, unbelievable start to the game by Richmond, which set the tone for the day. Not looking for excuses but felt like everything went their way, the bounce of the ball, luck and umpiring decisions. It was one of those days that makes you think that when it's not your day it's not your day. Perhaps it wouldn't have been so one sided at home...we will never know.

Ive seen several more disappointing performances than yesterday and this team will not be defined by one game. I'm still confident that we will have a good season with some strong wins however we won't be going back to back. Yesterdays game was like the start of the 2013 campaign and I reckon our season will be reminiscent of that season. Our side lacks big men and experience which will be hard to combat when we come up against sides like Richmond. Port still a finals team.

Jumper classes? How about the umpires yesterday. They appeared to be in identical outfits to Richmond ,especially from the back. Yellow top, black shorts, black numbers. (On TV anyway).
I watched from Budapest! I don't know if players were confused by that but it seemed wrong.

You wouldn’t have been the only one in Budapest confused Lum !!!

Do you know if Port have an alternate strip & if so has it ever been worn ??

We might be from the bush. but we ain't green

I can answer that one for you Digs. Yes Port does have a clash jumper and it was worn vs Northern Blues last year.

Agree with comments about Richmonds height across the ground causing us real trouble. But that quick movement in the first quarter we really didn't have an answer for. It kind of reminded me of our game in Rd 1 against Collingwood in 2000.. Blown away early and the game was beyond doubt.

I thought Waddell was pretty good in difficult circumstances and Haretuku wasn't as clean with his marking as we are used too.

Still next week isn't too far away, and Collingwood looked pretty ominous. Round 2 will be another steep challenge!
