Happy new year to all. When you say controversy to come this year I belive that the main topics of controversy will be the development league issue and wether it continues, the long running St Kilda and Sandy feud (may Sandy just get rid of these guys and go stand alone), Frankston hopefully being able to come back from the dead and complete. Closer to home I'm interested to see if Port can turn around their financial loss and break even or even come out winning.

37 times Grand finalists
16 times premiers
21 times runners up - THE MIGHTY BOROUGH!

I'M PORT MELBURNE BORN,
I'M PORT MELBOURNE BRED,
I'LL BE PORT UNTIL I'M DEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Development league future is the key here IMO. I know that even Coburg don't give it much emphasis, and with Casey and Sandy appearing to align even more closely with their "parent" AFL clubs, they'll have no issue if it gets the arse. IF it does die after 2017, then it's hard to see why/how Frankston would reform purely to field one side of 23 players in the VFL per week.

This would also accelerate the inevitable joining of Werribee and North Melbourne to, then suddenly we would have what the AFL wants, the AFL Victoria Reserves Competition, plus 4 single team sides in Williamstown, Port Melbourne, Coburg and North Ballarat (if they survive past this season).

Gawd.

Ron,

I think the threats to North Ballarat have all been eliminated.

Hopefully we can force the surviving rednecks out the door & into the water like the others who were first into the lifeboats when the ship started to sink.

Peter Wilson's decision to nominate again for the board has bought fresh enthusiam & interest which has been seriously lacking.

Peter's standing in the community has enabled him to recruit some financial backers (Ex North Ballarat players) who will be on the board for the right reasons & with no self interests.
