A few pics of re-development progress at Junction Oval
At Least the two beautiful old grandstands are still there
The Junction Oval aka St Kilda Cricket ground was one of my favorite grounds Sandringham FC played a full season there in 1966
One of the best grounds Billy. Loved going there watching the VFA finals.
I don't think they are allowed to bulldoze theose old two grandstands.
Will always remember Bill Lawry batting for about 5 days for Northcote against Essendon in a cricket final circa 1967 or 1968. He batted through the entire innings.
We might be from the bush. but we ain't green
282 not out in 1965-66. The phantom billy lawry the legend !!!
The corpse with pads on, as one unkind English journo described him.
I can clearly remember a brilliant cartoon in the Sporting Globe with Bill looking over his big nose with cobwebs between the stumps & a group of St Kilda players running around the boundary waiting for the footy season to start. Classic !!
