Port Melbourne recruiting 2017

Strong rumours around the Borough that a few past players may be retuning to the club.

Robin Nahas, Shane Valenti and Mitch Woofindin..  If true, a big influx of experience that will be a big boost.
Still hoping that the club is pursuing an experienced ruckman as a priority, followed up by a key position forward.

I will beat Digs to ask the question - but how much of a influence can Nahas and Valenti have in the side ? It would be fair that they are not exactly at the start of their careers ! Abit early to say but I woner how many we will lose ? Last couple of years we have had a big exodus or players and needed to rebuild the club.

Agreed Mega.

I'm not sure how Valenti's form has been (he'd be approaching 30 or just over now). He's all class though.

I think Nahas can still be a very effective player at VFL level, as can Mitch Woofindin if fit.

But I know where you are coming from, and I'd say Digs will be almost directly behind you! laugh

NorthPort & Mega I won't disappoint.

i just hate it when Port posters talk sense.

Heard a rumour that Bonnas

, Pleming & Baird are a chance to return.

The world won't end if Nahas etc play with another club.

Look forward not backwards !!

We might be from the bush. but we ain't green

There's always an exodus. The sky won't fall in. I think that's just second division sport.

I wonder if the new salary caps in local footy are having an impact? I think I read that the cap in the EFL would be 200k - significantly less than the VFL.

Port would no doubt be looking at the Frankston list. Cavarra, Sikora, Newman and Sketcher are all top liners.

Where did you hear that CGull? I guessed it would be Port or Coburg, no point in him going to an aligned club.

Seemed to fall out of favour towards the end of the year.

When you read 'The club had a number of discussions with Dylan post-season regarding his immediate playing future. After considering his options, Dylan has advised the club that he wishes to seek further opportunities elsewhere' it would appear the coach has lost confidence in him & could not guarantee a permanent spot in the senior side.

Disappointing but not the end of the world. Will be a few new faces next year with Dylan & Jack Johnson moving on.

From the Port Melbourne facebook page...

We’re delighted to announce our first official signing of the off-season, and it’s a beauty too, as we welcome Dylan Conway across from our rivals Williamstown!

Conway is a high half-forward flanker who finished 4th in the VFL competition goal kicking this year, and will no doubt be a welcome addition to our scoring stocks in 2017.

After winning the A. Todd Medal as the Development League Best and Fairest in 2015, Conway also brings recent Premiership experience having been a...
