R14 Port Melb v Williamstown 250th encounter

 From AFL Vic         http://vfl.com.au/port-melbourne-vs-williamstown-chapter-250/

Interesting to note the dates the clubs joined the VFL.. Me thinks an attempt to re-write of history

Before  the Borough Brigade get exited about Willy's 1969 Premiership I'll point out it was for Div 2.

Sadly blacrocker not televised by CH 7 no sense of occiasion.I went to all the 1950 GFs featruring Port and Willy big crowds at the Junction and rugged matches

The seagulls won 3 in a row 1954,55 56 against Port  lost to Morrabbin in 1957 then went on the win 58 and 59 could easi;y have won 6 in a row as they were the best team by far and incredibily they were undefeated during the home and away season in 1957 but no flag.lost both finals.Wally Carter was coach

The clubs should have a special badge or sticker to celebrate the occasion. It's a travesty that the game isn't being covered.

Another classic encounter between these two great clubs. Full credit to the Seagulls. They were cleaner and moved the ball quickly and efficiently. Their tackling pressure meant that our was very difficult For Port to get clean possession. Nick MEESE (not spelt right) such a goof ruckman at this level. I thought from a Port perspective we didn't get enough goal kicking opportunities and our back line held up well given the changes in line up. We missed Arnott in the centre, and to get within 3 points if Williamstown, I felt that if we can meet them in September at full strength in better conditions, that we are every chance of getting the win. The game was well attended, especially given the freezing conditions.. . And it is always enjoyable to see a healthy number of opposition supporters make the trip. Pinwill was very good again. I thought Anastasio popped up when the game was there to be one but was for the most part, pretty quiet.

This game would have been a far better game to televise than the Geelong game games, played before- nobody?

You think that the game was well attended? I reckon it was the lowest of the season at North Port. Agree well done to the travelling fans, well done for attending and congratulations on your NARROW win. Well get you next time.
