No way that will happen.
If Frankston regain a licence, then their coach should be someone who can develop young players. Talk of an old school coach with AFL experience is seriously misplaced IMHO.
Get a recently retired AFL player with development coaching experience and a profile who is more "new age" and can connect with the players better than someone in their 50s or 60s.
Cant agree with you here Ron. Have a look at the AFL's newest teams.
GWS, started by Sheedy and handed over to Cameron when the building blocks are in place. Suns, went with McKenna first time coach. GWS in line for a premiership, Suns still finding their way. More recently, Melbourne. Rebuilt by Roos, handed over to Goodwin and now going great.
All the good work done off field will count for nothing if this team is not competitive - and quickly. For them to survive they will have to be successful on field.
IMHO its too big a risk to appoint a first time coach (who might turn out to be a dud). Someone with the runs on the board is a safer bet.
Having said that, a lot will depend on who is available, and who wants to take it on.
Make Garrry an offer he can't refuse !! It's time for a change at Port.
Lets face it most of them would sell their soul for a few extra bob.
We might be from the bush. but we ain't green
Frankston present their case for readmittance to the VFL tomorrow. As of Saturday they had 1177 members. If they can make it to 1200 they think they will have the largest membership in the VFL. The result of the submission should be known in a few weeks.
Good luck Dolphins!!
Absolute no reason why they will not be part of the comp in 2018. Have done everything right to prepare for re admittance. Even GRIM Reaper can't so no.
I agree. They should get their licence back. They have addressed all the issues AFL Vic had, a plan is in place to repay the outstanding debts within 4 years, they have built a great base of 1200 members, and have come up with a workable business plan to sustain the club in the long term, and have great people with business and footbal experience in the admin of the club, the committee and the football department, to ensure their survival.
Dolphins did their presentation today.
hopefully have an answer by 7th August
Frankston have been allowed back into the 2018 competition
Awesome news go dolphins in 2018 !!
I think Frankston will become a force in the VFL with the quality people they have to steer them in the right direction.
Unfortunately it may well be without the Roosters !!
