How many AFL games have they agreed to play there? I thought it was one - realistically they'll have home games against 1-2 of freo, Gold Coast and maybe Port Adelaide. They wouldn't even want to play GWS there I reckon, seeing as that's a real top of the table clash now.

Do the rednecks at North City think they will have sole use of Eureka Stadium ? If so they are delusional. How many rednecks left on the board Digs. Agree with Ronny that they will try to get full use of the ground with Footscray and North Melbourne playing some VFL games there as well as Western Bulldogs 2 AFL games next year. If the roosters are still there the ground will be used to capacity and have plenty of games including some night games early on in season.

Reasonable assumptions  about the potential AFL games  at Eureka.  Every AFL game  at Eureka means less one less  at Docklands or MCG; who are the winners and loosers?

No doubt the investment in that stadium by the AFL is a long term proposition.

Ballarat's population is just over 100,000 and projected to be 130,000 plus in 15 years' time. Whilst the town doesn't have the same logical basis to support a Western Bulldogs or North Melbourne which played 3-4 AFL games there per year, it's akin to having Geelong play a handful of games at Simonds Stadium.

Its easier logistically for North to play low drawing games in Ballarat than Hobart, and frankly I don't think they've been shooting the lights out with generating club support in the Apple Isle the same way Hawthorn have.

The AFL aren't idiots, and they can see the long term benefit in having another regional growth town supporting a team or two rather than soccer taking over!

I think the AFL wouldn't mind pulling a couple of low drawing games off Etihad now that they own it. They just lose money.

Etihad Stadium better known as turd dome. Not a favorite for the majority of posters.

They say you lose money on a game at Etihad if you get less than 26000 but who really knows. Eg at the VFL grand final everyone pays to get in, no members getting in free.

if you wanted to talk profit I assume they'd make much more money at North Port.

Hey Digs Who owns the social club and who paid for it and what is going to happen to it if Footscray takes over the ground?
