"Honestly, who gives a stuff about Sandringham?

Answer? Nobody. If anybody did, they wouldn't be in the position they are now.

"I don't care about them. I'm a St Kilda Football Club fan. The only value I see in Sandringham Football Club is if they help the Saints cost-effectively compete with other AFL teams, and thus contribute to us getting a premiership.

It's sad to see them in this predicament. The same way that it's sad for blacksmiths that the industrial revolution arrived. It's not sad enough for me to deny progress."

Hey canhillclarry heres what your typical Saints supporter on their site on Big Footy thinks of the once mighty Sandringham Football club If you dont believe me and have a read.

Ive always hated this poor pathetic excuse of a football club since I was a kid and those sentiments are even stronger now they have the Zebras exactly where they want them I personally hope they never win another flag and stay in their rightfull place at the bottom

What a great record 1 Premiership in 140 years what a joke!.

They also mention the club has lost control of the Social Club is that true?

I am a stkilda supporter and agree. Sandringham seems like a decent local footy club, good crowds there for games against Port. Sad the current situation.

Before Melbourne Victory played at Etihad they said that they were reluctant to play there as they would need 20k minimum to break even. Is that the reason they play low drawing games in other areas ie Tas ??? Costs them far less?

As for Ports ground. It is fine for spectator comfort. You have the large Norm Goss stand, you have the hill where fans often sit and have their lunch and drinks etc etc. Comfort is not the issue for a. Vfl grand final, it is more so the capacity. Now with the social area there ground capacity has decreased with the preliminary finals being the best we can hope for.

As for Sandringham, go stand alone, do it now before it's too late. They are going to get rid of you once the new facilities are built.

37 times Grand finalists
16 times premiers
21 times runners up - THE MIGHTY BOROUGH!

I'M PORT MELBURNE BORN,
I'M PORT MELBOURNE BRED,
I'LL BE PORT UNTIL I'M DEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

St Kilda the most successful sporting club world wide with an amazing succes rate. LOL

As Billy said one flag in over 140 years. They will use Sandringham to suit and dump them when they feel like it.

Would not be surprised to see St Kilda opt for the name Southern Saints, wear St Kilda colours and play out of Moorabbin.

Hope the fact that Werribee plan to go it alone and Coburg are at least having a good crack at it will inspire the zebras.

Go alone zebras otherwise there will be no more zebras. Casey Demons, Noerhern Blues do you want to be Southern Saints ???

In the words of John Kennedy senior don't say DO before it's too late.

Pardon my intrusion, but I thought this thread was about Werribee going stand alone and North Melbourne running its own VFL side.

However.....if we are to bang on about the pros/cons of stand alone -v- alignment I have to say it's very important that the AFL club and it's VFL partner understand that, at some point in the near future, they will almost inevitably separate and have to plan for that eventuality in as mature and rational a way as possible. Looks like North and Werribee have done this.

i don't know much about the St Kilda / Sandringham relationship BUT I feel that once Sandy accept that ultimately they WILL be cut loose, they need to canvass as much independent support as possible right now so there isn't a big void to fill when St Kilda decide to run their own VFL team out of Moorabbin.

its inevitable that the AFL want reserves teams for each club and a women's team for each club, and the market isn't getting filled with much demand for revitalised VFA entities, so Sandy need to do heaps of work off field right now to ensure they have a future after 2017/18.
