So clarry if you know about the "internal issues" let us ( the quickly dying breed of ex VFA supporters} all in on the secret!
BTWI havent hi jacked the thread I just couldnt be bothered starting anonther one as SFC will eventually come to the same decision as Werribbe by themselves or St Kilda wiil do it for them and I was right look at the response
I hope Sandringham goes the way werribee and coburg and have a crack as standalone and not end up like preston and springvale. Personally i think the zebras are far better than that and can survive with lots of hard work and planning. Anyway this year even though aligned with stkilda Sandringham are still the zebras, play at beach road and wear the yellow black and white jumpers. Will see what happens when it happens.
The only thing that will save Sandringham FC is a change of administration. Younger men with the drive and capacity for the hard work are needed to consolidate the future of this great footy club.
Same reason for Frankston being in the mess they are now in.
I think Frankston are in the mess they are in because it's actually hard... to survive without some non football income is not easy.
we see Port Melbourne running the appeal for 1000 members which I hear has been achieved. If all of those members are full fee paying adults (which they won't be) that's worth 70 grand... it's not much.
port are winning games of footy because we've brought in Templeton, Nahas, Murdoch etc (maybe the salary caps in local footy are helping)... but obviously we're paying those guys well.
Exactly. It is very hard for a stand alone footy club to survive. Things are being done now at Frankston that should have been done 10 years ago to attract new members and create more income for the club. Buckenara is working his arse off to get things happening. Sponsors signed up, functions and sportsmans business lunches being organised. They were in Bayside shopping centre yesterday with a handball competition to raise awareness of the club and to get donation and sell memberships.
Not much is going to happen if your club administrators are in their seventies and are happy to cruise along towards retirement.
Spot on bearsman summed it perfectly. Not easy but can been done. Requires planning and a lot of hark work. Werribee would have been quietly working towards standalone for a few years off the field. After the seasons end they will be on the hunt for a competetive team for 2018. If Sandringham do decide to go it alone they would need to start planning but of course would need the people like buckenara and dicker that put hours in place. If they don't well you don't have to be a rhodes scholar to work out what might and probably will happen.
Wonder how many changes since 2000 the vfl have had teams wise plus team name changes like casey demons. Might have to work it out one day and post it.
Heath and hired a CEO (which don't come cheap). I may not be the sharpest tool in the shed but I would think when a business is struggling you wouldnt hire extra people - especially those on high wages!!!!
