North Port Oval / Fortburn Stadium

So despite a month's worth of raining in the days leading up to Saturday's game against Footscray, the ground held up reasonably well...

A bit of mud in the centre square and a bit of surface water on the Norm Goss Grandstand wing I didn't think it was too bad overall.

The channel 7 coverage mentioned the state of the ground and although it is less than ideal.

Hopefully the Councils contractors work throughout the week to have it ready for this Saturdays game against North Melbourne.

I'd hate to see further matches be shifted away from the ground.  Perhaps the AFL could liaise with the council to assist.  Do the AFL actually have their own turf specialists? I've got a feeling Burraburger knows the answer to that one.

Yes I agree - a little bit of mud and people are jumping up and down stating that somebody is going to get injured and that the club is going to have a series of litigation cases etc etc. I have seen grounds in a lot worse a state than Northport. Is a little bit of mud not allowed any longer ? Do surfaces need to be 100 per cent perfect ? #7 even questioned if the next game should be played at Port. A few breaths people lets not go overboard !

A call from Port to Dollar Dan Andrews might be in order. He might pay for a surface upgrade if you get him before the election!

Hes given money to Coburg and Frankston-Port should get on the list too!

Strong rumours that Saturdays game against North Melbourne nearly didn't go ahead, after the Kangaroos and Umpires were unhappy with the centre square.

Only some last minute work being conducted, allowed the game to go ahead!

What happens points wise if a game is called off? If no points, or even 2 points each, could be disatrous for Port at the end of the year.

Watched Coburg v Collingwood, and the same issue there with the centre square, although doesnt seem to be as bad at Port. Terrible look for TV though...

I thought the centre was fine, a little bit of mud but I think what is more concerning is the dip the ground takes just out of the centre. Had the covers on all week and noticed the super soaker being put to use before the game.
