Caroline Wilson Article

Interesting article in yesterday's Sunday Age outlining the imminent restructure of junior football.

I'm told this will be followed by a simlar process for the VFL

I'm tipping this will have far reaching implications for the competition as we know it.

One interesting aspect of the article was the fact that the AFL proposal could see all the Victorian clubs aligned to TAC teams within five years. Apart from the fact that there are only 10 Victorian-based clubs and 12 TAC clubs, why would AFL clubs put resources into the TAC clubs if the draft rules mean that its open slather to draft anyone? Doesn't make any sense unless the drafting rules are changed, then you get into the area of restraint of trade laws, which are always looming.

Here's the link, I think that was an old one Wal:

Aligning TAC Cup clubs directly with VFL clubs is long overdue, and with the VFL devt league gone (until some AFL wig in the future decides it needs to come back!) is absolutely essential in my opinion.

Correct Paul, that was from three years ago, interesting that none of Caro's predictions have come to fruition .....

Thanks for posting.  The shape of the competition really changes from year to year.  2019 will be no exception.
