2018 Draft Results

BEN CAVARRA (Williamstown) Pick no.45 to Western Bulldogs

NICK HIND (Essendon VFL Pick no.54 to St Kilda

MARTY HORE (Collingwood VFL) Pick no.56 to Melbourne

LACHLAN SCHULTZ (Williamstown) Pick no.57 to Fremantle

BRETT BEWLEY (Williamstown) Pick no.59 to Fremantle

WILL HAYES (Footscray) Pick no.78 to Western Bulldogs

Really good to see Ben Cavarra staying locally and also Will Hayes being rewarded for his time at Footscray.  Might be a hit to the depth of Williamstown in 2019!

And in the Rookie Draft.  Not as many on VFA club lists... Just the one!

7. Adelaide — Kieran Strachan (Port Melbourne VFL)

Congrats to all and especially the Willi boys but Michael Gibbons overlooked AGAIN, makes you wonder what else he has to do, must have some glaring weaknesses in his game that i can't see, i was certain he would go before Schultzy or Benny Cavarra

Agree Wal...amazing Gibbons didnt get on a least a Rookie list...Looks like Willy has taken a decent hit with their personel for 2019? I believe Pongo may be joining Josh Newman back at Frankston next year...

Yes indeed the on-ball brigade will be decimated by losing those three but at least Gibbo will be there again and we have picked up the B&F winner from Coburg who plays in the middle, and who knows what else Collo has in mind. Now the draft is done & dusted the picture will become clearer in the next few weeks i would imagine.

Not sure about Pongo's intentions for next year but I believe he's got a physio business in Hoppers Crossing, so that may make him more likely to stay at Willi but who knows

Its a long way from Hoppers to Frankston 4 times a week...probably for less money too. Dolphins are desperate for a player or three of his calibre to show these youngsters what tough hard footy is about. Dolphs were pretty soft this year and Newman and Pongo would certainly give them some extra grunt.

He took out the Ron James MVP award this year which is voted on by the players, so he is obviously well-regarded by the playing group

Hi Wal,

Caught up with a few of Williamstown's greats over the weekend !!

Saade Ghazi, Julian Shanks, Danny DelRe, Tony Pastore were all in Ballarat for the races & were all having breakfast at a restraunt & I had the opportunity to chat about the glory days.

I thought it just great that all your club legends are still great mates & continue to socialise together.

I believe that they all caught up with Fitzy at the races who would have enjoyed their company immensely.

We might be from the bush. but we ain't green

That's an impressive line-up digs, a Liston Trophy winner, a Fothergill-Round Medal winner, club best & fairest winners, club captains & leading goalkicker, and they have all done well in life after footy also. Shanksie & Ghaz discussing the property market? Yeah that's great they still hang out together, how was the weather for the races?
