OMG, nearing 3/4 time the Dollies are down by 110 points, 123-13
the margin flattered the Dolphins
very depressing day
good crowd though
The most inept Frankston side Ive seen in 31 years following them. Nearly 20 goals down at 3/4 time. Turnovers were unbelievable - You couldnt count the number of times a Frankston player kicked directly to an Essendon player.
The worrying thing to me, and this was the same in their practice match against Coburg, they have absolutely no structure. All players were inside the Essendon players all day. No runners outside,no link up, and run and carry is impossible when you set up like that. All day it was short kicking to a stationary target, which was easy pickings for Essendon to cause a turn over.
Huge job for a first year coach to turn this around.
The highlight of the day had to be Irving Mosquito. It was like watching a mini Cyril Riloi..his disposal skills are ordinary at the moment but look out if he ever gets it all together.
Wonder how the coaches arrive at the best players after a game? IMHO Frankstons two best (By a country mile) were Nathan Freeman and Josh Newman. Neither made it into the best players. Amazing...
In 14 years with Dolphins never have I been so depressed then after today.
You wait all summer than you lose by 121 points and should have been a lot more
I hope I am wrong I am already fearing a winless season for the club
Agree 100% Robbo. Every chance of Frankston not winning a game. Willy next week, which will probably be 20+ goals again...
Hoping there are not serious bigger picture issuses at Frankston. I know its only one game into the season but there are some worrying signs.
-20 goals thrashing first up
-coaching staff appear to be out of their depth
-substandard recruting for this year
-sacking the GM two weeks before the season with no replacement, raising financial concerns
I wonder how AFL Vic will view another season as miserable as last year? Part of the licensing rules are to field a competitve side, ala Nth Ballarat. Imagine some slack would be given due to rebuiling, and the finincial constraints Frankston are under, but if the club is in financial trouble again I cant imagine them letting Frankston continue.
Lets hope it can be turned around onfield quickly. They wont beat Willy next week whatever happens but if they can at least put in a disiplined competitve effort, and perhaps knock off Coburg the following week, who knows?
Robbo...did you get the email from the club this morning? If not, looks like you're off the mailing list.
Worst display from a Frankston side in 35 years of me following them. We got belted by Casey in a night game a couple of years back which was pretty insipid, but to produce this performance on our home deck is absolutely pathetic. The club is asking people to join up.....for what? Apparently Buckenara was let go because he wanted to go in a different direction to the club.....what direction is it we're going in?
There seems to be a major problem regarding direction at the club, this is not new. Going back to the Goosey days we were supposedly just a breeding ground for potential draftees. I see nothing to say this has changed. Over the past few years it seems we recruit players who have no ambition to actually play for Frankston. They are there to advance themselves, and if that fails they move on, immediately. ALL of our local MPNFL clubs have a greater standing in the community than the Dolphins, and that's bloody sad considering we're talking about a VFL club. I yearn for the day that we can put together a core group that will stick together for three years or more. Won't do that while there is constant upheaval off the field.
We got a second chance, and we're wasting it. Makes me sick.
