VFA GRAND FINALS Looking back 1971 to 1975 First Division Grand Finals 1971 Dandenong 14.14.98 d Preston 13.14.92 Frosty Miller kicked a goal before the ball was bounced to start the game. Dandenong won by six points and a protest lodged by Preston was dismissed 1972 Oakleigh 25.17.167 d Dandenong 18.15.123 It was a big day for the ever popular Big Bob Johnson and the army of Oakleigh supporters. 1973 Prahran 18.15.123 d Oakleigh 10.18.78 Prahran did it easy to win it's second flag in four years. 1974 Port Melbourne 22.20.152 d Oakleigh 11.17.83 Oakleigh playing in their third consecutive Grand Final but were no match for the far superior and slicker Port Melbourne outfit. 1975 Geelong West 18.13.121 d Dandenong 14.9.93 It was geelong West's only Division One flag and they did it in style for Billy Goggin and his crew. Second Division Grand Finals 1971 Sunshine 22.26.158 d Brunswick 16.8.104 The Crows won their only flag with a big win despite inacurrate kicking. A young Alan Stoneham went on to become a good player for both Footscray and Essendon after starting his career at Sunshine. 1972 Geelong West 14.16.100 d Caulfield 14.10.94 The roosters were the last team to be undefeated for the whole season. Had a couple of narrow wins against Caulfield. 1973 Caulfield 18.20.128 d Brunswick 14.22.106 Tony Jewell's bears win their one and only flag. 1974 Coburg 18.17.125 d Brunswick 9.15.69 Coburg proved far too good for the wickers who were runners up for the third time in four years. 1975 Brunswick 18.22.130 d Camberwell 12.11.83 Brunswick finally break through for a well deserved flag beating the Wells by 47 points.
