The Club has elected the on-field leaders for the 2005. Chris Obst has been appointed captain with Luke Cotchett vice-captain.
Chris is entering his third season as a Port Melbourne contracted player after having previously having previously being listed by the Sydney Swans. Chris has played 55 games winning the most consistent award in 2004, most determined award in 2003 and was runner-up in the Best & Fairest award in 2002. We wish Chris well in 2005 and the Club is certain that he will follow in the footsteps of previous Borough captains and lead by example.
Luke is in his fourth season at the Borough after having been recruited from affiliate Oakleigh Chargers. He has played 64 senior games winning the Coach’s award in 2002, Best Clubman in 2003 and the Tom Lahiff Trophy in 2004. Luke has been groomed as a leader over the past couple of seasons and no doubt will Captain the Borough in the future.[/quote]
Good appointments for the Borough as both have been loyal servants of the club. Hopefully Brett Rose remains at the club, and has only relinquished the captaincy and will play on after an injury affected 2004.
