Re Whitten Oval
You dont need to worry as there is no fence around most of the ground now esp the Gordon Street side.

Apparently Casey Scorpions had an intraclub practice match this evening. Anyone know how it went?

I heard at Carlton the reserves practice game between the Bullants and Bendigo was called off at Half Time due to lightning. Seniors game did go ahead.

bullants

Bendigo beat the Bullants by 21 points, 8.7.55 to 5.4.34.

Only got there for the last quarter of the senior game so not a lot to report on In fact I'm pretty sure only one point was scored in the last quarter, by this stage it wasn't raining but the ground was still very wet.

I know its early days, but that must be a concern for the Dolphins, to be going through a game without kicking a goal.

They always play well against Port Melbourne, so I'd expect a better showing next week.

Practice Match 14/3/2009

It was very wet at Arden Street. Rain eased to steady rain for 1st three quarters of reserves. Downpour in 1st quarter of seniors.

North Melbourne is a dump - no shelter, no scoreboard, no public toilets, no rubbish bins.

Five Werribee players in Roosters sides for both matches.

Frankston couldn't be used due to St Kilda's invasion to get ready for "family day" on Sunday.

Learmonth ground apparently not up to scratch, so next Saturday's 6 quarter game vs Werribee is at Dunnstown.

"The Courier" report on the Frankston match is available at:

Why aren't Casey lighting up the sky for a praccy match? They've got those awesome light towers and they dont use them!!!!! Last year's VFL final was held in the day, and just one night game for this season. Madness. Surely they could play a praccy match at night.

I'd have gone down on Saturday night if they were playing it then.
