Former VFA Club Guernseys?
Hi all, New here,so first time posting in this forum. What a fantastic website this is. Was absolutely rapt to see the old logos of the old VFA teams. Any one here know if there is a place on the net or on this web site, where you can see the former VFA teams Guernseys? Like Northcote, Moorabbin, Mordialloc, etc.? As I remember these teams, I was only a young kid, and they didnt always show div 2 teams. Thanx Caeser

Sandringham have had a number of changes. The original Jumper was light blue with with three bands of black and gold around the middle . Blue for Hampton, Gold for Sandringham and Black for Black Rock the areas that made up the former City of Sandringham. Then came the vertical stripes .The stripes were replaced by a Jumper similar to St Kildas in Gold black and blue for a short time in the 1950s and had a small Zebra monogram and at one stage the back was all black. In recent years we have had the Z design and the Silver and Blue away jumpers.

There is actually some old VFA cards from the early 1900s currently available in eBay. They have photos of the colour of some of the teams. Caesar they are worth a look to see what colors there were in the old days. Just type in vfa for a general search on eBay in Australia.

Brighton wore red and yellow in the 1930s. They have had a couple of different jumpers in the VFA years. West Melbourne were called the Dreadnoughts. At one stage Northcote were called the Brick fielders, Brunswick the Pottery Workers, Camberwell the tri colors. I have a 1977 VFA Annual report which has the VFA clubs from that year and all their club songs. When I find it I'll post those songs. Speaking of club songs did Adelaide Crows steal their club song from Werribee ?

Thanx everyone. I will look into ebay and search for the old vfa cards.
:D I think the correct Brighton colours were Maroon and Yellow not red but very close. zebra
They were Maroon and Gold really and had the nickname Penguins.Played at the massive Elsternwick Park now home to the VAFA.. In the early 1950s when Sandy were struggling they beat Brighton at TBO who had only one win and Sandy got up in a hard fought game .The Zebra supporters thought it was like winning a premiership.

They were maroon and yellow but if you look at the old licorice footy cards from the 1930s they might have had a red and yellow jumper ? I have some old Argus VFA teqm photos from 1950 and Brighton did have the maroon and yellow jumper. The penguins as they were known. There looks like there is also a different style jumper in 1940s. Check full points footy website and search clubs (Brighton). There is some photos on there and great info. They played at the Brighton Beach Oval then moved to Elsternwick Park before merging with Caulfield to become Brighton-Caulfield. After a few years the Brighton name was dropped enter the Caulfield Bears. In 1989 Caulfield merged with Ashburton to be called caulfield-Ashburton in the SESFL. They won the flag that year and were expelled. The latest version of caulfield is a merger between St Kevins Ormond and Glenhuntly. They are also called the Caulfield Bears and play at Princes Park Caulfield. Good footage of Caulfield's greatest day winning the 1973 GF on this site with the other games shown.
