Round 12 Werribee v Sandringham
Sandringham 0.2 6.3 9.5 13.9.87 Werribee Tigers 5.4.34. 7.7.49 9.13.67 13.15.93 Goals Sandringham Sautner 4 Lamb Newton 2 Morton Poyas Summers Bell Yze Werribee Tigers Brown 3 Henderson Podsiadly McMahon 2 Chisholm Davies Sheringham Young Best Sandringham Yze Newton Liddell Crowe Frawley White Werribee Tigers Goldstein Thompson Davies Greenwood Howard Ross Had a look at the game today and didnt much like what I saw. Looks to me the team are just going through the paces and the Melbourne players are now just playing for a spot in the AFL team. If this poor form and attitude keeps up Sandy will be lucky to make the 8 and are maybe better not to! Oh and by the way crowd of about 1000 was pathetic for a place like Werribee. Looks like the Council is wasting ratepayers money on building terraces behind the Geelong end goals for no one to watch from.

Sadly, 1000 for a VFL match is pretty good going nowadays. There was a really parochial atmosphere, and the crowd seemed really engaged with the game. Sandy were not good, but then they have no structure at the moment, be it in attacking transition, at the stoppages, or from kick-outs (WTF is with them having a different player take the kick-outs every time?). Nine changes to their side from last week, and so a few of the younger kids (Waller, Cheney, the Johnstons etc) missed out as they made way for MFC listed players. The general skill level in play and around the stoppages was high for this standard, and the attack on the footy from both sides really impressive - an enjoyable game of footy. Werribee should've won by more, but they missed a few monties during the third term when they were negating Sandy's fightback. That said, two really bad errors cost the Zebras dearly - a set shot from Michael Newton from a close distance dead in front during the third term, and an atrocious kick-out that resulted in a direct Ben Davies goal at the 10 minute mark of the 3rd term for Werribee. (At that point, Werribee were only in front by a point and Sandringham had kicked the previous six goals). Goldstein more than held his own against Jeff White in ruck before half-time, although White's second-half performance was adequate. Ross and Davies were superb for the Tigers, running with the footy, taking on men and using their instinct to play direct, accurate corridor footy. Until the last term, Sautner had to lead a long way from goal to get his side moving. Often nobody filled in at full-forward, leaving the Zebras bereft of options when heading into attack.

Great to get another win on the board. Was good to see the 3SER boys at the game and happily gave all of them a wave.

I thought Werribee were consistent across the four quarters and that's something that we have lacked in many games this year when they were there for us to win. I thought were more focused during the first half though, we seemed to let Sandy back into the game almost too much during that last quarter in particular. Heard your call of the game too Minka, working beautifully and you may get a plug from me on another station when I call up.

The sooner this season is over and the club is shot of MFC the better I only hope we dont fall into the same trap again with St Kilda.. As for the wunderkind Newton he has to be one of the softest 190+ cms players going around and has a very long way to go to become a top AFL player.
White played fairly well George, but he didn't dominate in the ruck like so people though he would. Todd Goldstein did a superb job going up against him today and was named as our best on ground, he's not too far away from getting a game for the Roos.

Did Levi Greenwood play ? He is the son of one of my old school mates from Burwood Heights High School from the 70s. My mate Barton Greenwood has been living in Port Neil in SA for the last 20 years. His son is on North Melbourne 's list. The kid is suppose to go ok on the field.
[quote:c273034d63="bcarbonaro"]Yeah Levi played. He keeps getting better every week and was named as an emergency for the game against St Kilda up on the Gold Coast, the kid will definitely be good when he is given a few AFL games.
