New players for the Ants?
With the club delistings almost finalised and completed I am listing down all the players who can be signed up by VFL clubs, providing that they are not picked up in the Pre-Season or Rookie Drafts. Adelaide Crows Ben Hart Chad Gibson Alan Obst Hayden Skipworth Brisbane Lions Jayden Attard Clark Keating Carlton Callum Chambers Justin Davies Luke Livingston Troy Longmuir Cory McGrath Ian Prendergast Trent Sporn Collingwood Cameron Cloke Jason Cloke David Fanning Brent Hall Adam Iacobucci Julian Rowe Essendon Tristen Cartledge Austin Lucy Joel Reynolds Fremantle Benet Copping Daniel Haines Michael Warren Geelong Kent Kingsley Paul Koulouriotis Matthew McCarthy Hawthorn Matthew Ball Luke Brennan Harry Miller Nick Ries Josh Thurgood Kangaroos Chad Jones Troy Makepeace Cameron Thurley Melbourne Shannon Motlop Phillip Read Nick Smith Port Adelaide Matthew Bishop Ben Eckermann James Ezard Aaron Shattock Peter Walsh Elijah Ware Richmond Andrew Kellaway Dean Limbach Tom Roach David Rodan St Kilda Matthew Ferguson Mark McGough Allan Murray Sydney Swans Matthew Davis Andrew Erickson Earl Shaw David Spriggs Josh Willoughby West Coast Eagles Damien Adkins Travis Gaspar Brad Smith Western Bulldogs Kieren McGuiness Adam Morgan Brad Murphy Jesse Wells Please note: These players are only the delisted ones off of each club's senior list. It does not include players dumped off rookie lists and not retired players. Who do you think it would be worth the Bullants picking up? Rumour has it that Port are chasing Morrell and Livingston - apparently they have offered a big sum of money on a contract and we can't match it. Wouldn't surprise me if I saw them in the red and blue borough guernsey next year. And it looks as though David Spriggs will join the Borough in 07 as well, just speculation but I hope the Ants make a big play for him. Would also like to entice Brett Johnson (he spent 06 with the Seagulls) come down to the Ants. Who else out of that list, and others do you think the Bullants should make a serious play for?

I dont think the bullants offering a heap to Spriggs would have much effect given that he signed with Port last week. I think you might also find that Johnson is contracted to Willy.

Who else could the Bullants make a legitimate play for then?

I think the Bullants are more interested in retaining players than recruting them.

Certainly the Ants are disappointed not to get Livingston, having offered him a contract and had a LOT of talks. Harford is also no certainty to play as yet, even though he would like to. Still, the Ants are no longer an economic basket case - there is some money to spread around and the real chance of finals footy. They will attract a few more yet.

Missing out on Livingston is no cause for alarm! From what I've read, depending on media comments Harford might be the only one missing next year. Morrell will stay on as a playing assistant coach.

Isn't Harford playing out in the Eastern league? Sure I heard him mention it a week or so ago on SEN.

Michael Hooper and Jesse Smith (Carlton rookie) are both signed at West Adelaide.
It appears as though the Perth Football Club have signed Ross Young from the Northern Bullants to join them in 2007. It is understood that Perth are trying to build a successful team with players from within their zone however Young will be a handy acquisition. It is also understood that the Demons might be a fair chance to sign Travis Gaspar given that his brother Damien is the club's football manager. Perth are no certainty at the moment of having the services of Damian Adkins given his departure from West Coast. A number of WAFL clubs are competing for his services however Adkins may be looking at heading back east to continue his football career.
Damien Adkins to Port . . . is that what you're trying to subtly mention? Remember, be ready for another interstate recruit this week?
