The difference being that Carlton are saving a fair bit of money by the alliance yet still want total control over the Bullants. I think you would find if AFL clubs were to give it the 'VFL club is using us line, so now we will field our own team' not all clubs would want that either, as the cost involved for AFL clubs as well as the personell involved would be too big. I would say that most would be a 50/50 relationship, it's just the arrogance that Carlton have, and the way they are going about it, showing a complete lack of respect for one of the proudest clubs in the VFA, and know that they can get away with it, I wish they weren't aligned with the Bullants, and had one with say Willy or Port, as they would have been in a position to well and truley tell Carlton where to go by now.

Fair enough. Don't mind us though, we used to push people around all the time, so while we're currently a bit rubbish we're just keeping our toe in the water until we get back properly and can start pushing AFL clubs around as well. :P From what you're saying then, we seem to do more bullying than the other AFL clubs with alignments?

Media reports are suggesting that Mitchell has been moved on. Personally, I'm not sure if this is a good or bad move, but will be interested to hear the thoughts from the Bullants side of the fence...

Mitchell has been moved on. The alignment between Carlton and the Bullants will continue as well, five games to be played at MC Labour Park.

I'd think Mitchell would be sought by several clubs as a ready-made VFL coach capable of matching it with AFL alignments.

Yeah, I'll agree with you there Ons. Would Port Melbourne be interested in him?

I'd say there would definitely be interest in Barry Mitchell. Would Diggers make the jump back to the Borough with him? I might split this topic up, its going off-topic.

On the VFL Hour last night, there was suggestion that Diggers may be a playing coach next year. Do you think he could do it at 28 and his work as a teacher is always taking up a lot of his time?

At a guess I'd say Mitchell won't coach the Bullants in 08. Not a chance in hell that Diggers will be playing coach, just can't be done at VFL level. After a shaky start Mitchell was very good for the Bullants. He changed the culture of the club and the Bullants are a better club for it. As for his attempt to become senior coach at Carlton, it could have been better timed as the Bullants were in the midst of a finals series. And he should have demanded that Pagan be sacked before speaking to the board, but hindsight is a wonderful thing. Haven't a clue who Carlton will select as coach.
