Molan and Lamb
Have you surfaced from the celebrations yet Zman ??? Just wanted a view on Luke Molan and Chris Lamb from someone who has seen a lot of them. I hear they've both been delisted by Melbourne today. I know Molan has been pretty much destroyed by injury in his time there and maybe his body just isn't meant to play footy eh ? Some guys simply dont get to play the game at any significant level due to constant injury and I have a feeling Luke is one of them. What about Lamb ? He had a really good run a few years back but just seems to have stagnated. In the games I've seen him play ( obviously only a couple a year tops) he seems to lack the strength to play a body on body defence role and perhaps lacks the run to play a running defender role......where does that leave him ? To be honest I've always been a bit of a rap for him , even given those limitations. Just cant quite understand why he hasn't played more senior footy. Or is he simply a good VFL player and that's it ??? What's your take on it ??

Luke Molan played very little football with Sandy...played a few reserves games but injuries kept him on the sidelines for far too long... Chris Lamb will always remain a favourite of mine and I'm sure most Zebra supporters...he played nearly 80 games for us...he missed the 2000 premiership due to injury and the smile on his face back at the club when we won the flag is something I'll always remember... I'd love to see him stay at Sandy and get 100 games up....I still reckon he's good enough for AFL though and he may get snapped up in the draft... The last month has been absolute bliss..... for obvious reasons GO ZEBS

After seeing a fair bit of both Lamb and Molan at TAC Cup level I thought that they both would make terrific players. Obviously Molan has been affected by injury and is young enough to possibly come back and make an impact. Lamb however always seemed to me to play his best football when kept in the action. Some of his best games for the Murray Bushrangers were when he played in the ruck. He didn't have the footy smarts to play in a position but he had the fitness to get to a lot of contests when on ball. Melbourne never tried him there.

Interesting idea grub. He's pretty much the same height and weight as Michael Rix who certainly can handle the ruck , at least at VFL level , I'd be keen to see him in that role. I guess it was never really going to happen with both Jolly and Jamar around the place eh.

Lamb would seem unlucky to have not played more AFL football. He certainly played a major role in holding Sandy's backline together this year. This might sound extremely picky, but the couple of times I saw Sandy the camera's went into the rooms after they'd won and Lamb could be seen chomping on a pie. Maybe Melbourne thought that his attitude was quite there.

Cam Hunter is doing a pre season at Hawthorn.

The main knock on Hunter seems to be his inability to gain much weight in his 3 years in the system. Could be worth a look for a rookie listing. What's your view on him, Zeb?

Matty...went backwards this year....showed a bit in 2004...he is the lightest player on the AFL list....like his old man he is totally fearless...but he struggled this year and spent the majority of the season in the Sandy 2's...
