new coaches for 2006 Peter Banfield has been joined by Chris Cogan as Reserves Coach along with Justin Woodman as an Assistant Coach to join Brian Winton in season 2006. Chris coached Lilydale High School to the 2005 Herald-Sun Shield flag at the MCG on Grand Final Day and will be well placed to help develop our new Reserves team which is expected to be loaded with promising ex TAC Cup players. Chris played 270 games for East Ringwood and was senior assistant coach when they won the flag and reserves coach when that club won two reserves flags. His experience will be a first class back up for senior coach Peter Banfield. Justin Woodman is a former Scorpions Premiership player with plenty of VFL experience behind him, and has just spent two years at Dingley Football Club coaching the senior team in 2005. Justin will bring with him his devotion to the Scorpions and his eagerness to learn the coaching game at VFL level. Former champion player, games record holder, and multiple premiership player, Jason Caples has indicated his willingness to return to the club in the role of Chairman of Selectors, and this is expected to be confirmed when Jason returns from overseas in January. Trevor Farr is Fitness Manager and Ben Logan is the Club Physio who has been joined by four young student ladies who will gain practical experience as trainers
Might as well get a plug in for our blokes..... Damien Christensen is pretty well known by most as the caoch of Geelong Falcons for the past 6 years. Hawthorn guys like Hodge , Boyle and Lewis have raved about his affect on their careers so I guess that's a fair sign. Obviously he now has to translate that into success at a senior level. His assistants will be : Scott Armour ( BHH development coach in 05) Doug Barwick ( EFL coaching and Tac cup asst roles) Martin Gaul ( Tac cup asst roles and former Box Hill player) Kevin Tibaldi - Reserves coach (Tac cup asst roles , asst at Willy last year ) Cam Whitford - Reserves asst (Tac cup asst) With the exception of Scotty Armour , there's an entirely new group at Box Hill this year as a result of Andy Collins taking with him his group from 05. Andy hand picked his team so it's only natural that they'd all follow him to Coburg I guess. The current coaching team has been selected by the Box Hill club in consultation with Damien Christensen. Conditioning coach Craig Abbott has stepped up to head the entire fitness department in consultation with Andrew Russell at Hawthorn and has developed a full team of assistants which should make for a more balanced approach over the whole network of Hawthorn/Box Hill players. Looking forward to a succesful 2006 , on and off the field.
