Water Restrictions - Ground Availability
Are the water restrictions going to impact on any grounds? I hear Stage 3 is coming in Feb & Stage 4 in Apri/May if we don't get reasonable rain. Casey Fields will be ok as it is watered with A grade recycled water - the same water that goes onto the nearby market gardens in Clyde. Are other grounds going to be ok?

Not sure about Port's ground which used to have Bore water.. But I heard that the Camberwell Sports ground could cost as much as $8000 per water, trucking in water from Torquay. A few grounds are using partially treated sewerage water.. you just can't play on the ground within a few hours of watering.

Heard a rumour last week that the Dolphins might be sharing Casey Fields for a while next season.
The only water you'd be getting from Torquay is salt water.
You'd think so.. but there must be some treated or desalinated source down there. Pretty certain that was where it was coming from.

B8ut let's just see what happens. I think it's time someone invented a way to make sea water as clean as any other water.

But the best one was that the surface would be no good. It was fantastic in 2006 in its first year.......in 2007 it will be useable!!!!! Desalination plants have made some middle eastern cities (eg Dubai) an oasis in the desert. In the last election campaign Ted Baillieu promised to build one at Hastings or Werribee: http://www.vic.liberal.org.au/documents/desalination_policy.pdf

But come on mate, you know I didn't bag the venue, and I never said the surface would be no good. I just said it would not be at its best in the first year. I don't really care, but you would do well to get the facts straight. As I recall, we have had this discussion before. Constructive comments were all that there were, which you decided to take negaitively. No problem as far as I'm concerned.

Bendigo is already on Stage 4 restrictions, the QEO is now a dustbowl. The local water authority are working on a pipe that will carry recycled water but most likely will not be completed until the end of March. This will make sure that the future is OK, this is why the Bendigo Bombers decided to play its Round 1 game at Windy Hill. They may have to speak to Sandy to swap Round 3 with Round 16 if the ground is not up to scratch. Also the new change rooms at the QEO are complete, the Bombers are considering using these rooms rather than sharing with two local teams the rooms under the grandstand. The reason for this is that the Council may allow the Bombers to decorate the rooms with their branding etc and have these rooms to themselves during the whole year.
