Your clubs AFL affiliate
As a past player of a VFA club now no longer in the VFA/VFL and a one eyed Richmond supporter, i still support Box Hill and have not switched to Coburg who i hated then and still do. But what about you, have you changed your support to your AFL clubs affiliate or stuck loyal to your old VFA team. If my old club was still in the comp i would be following them.

I followed Northcote in 2nd Division passionately. I followed Williamstown in 1st Division but Northcote was always number one for me. In the third line was Sunshine where I played a few Reserves games. I am a one eyed Richmond supporter but still follow Williamstown although I hate Collingwood with a passion. When Williamstown plays Coburg I follow the seagulls of course but cannot cheer any Collingwood players. I hope the VFL listed players do well. I use to hate Frankston in the mid to late 1990s especially after they were called cheque book football. They use to spend plenty of dollars buying old AFL hacks, especially Richmond rejects like Des and Stephen Ryan. I now admire Frankston and hope they do really well as a stand alone team. I wouldn't mind seeing Frankston and Port Melbourne playing off for the flag.

Yeah, Richmond and Box Hill for me too. It's funny, some mates just can't understand how i can barrack against Richmond players, or for Hawthorn players, but i just don't see them as that. I do find myself taking a bit more interest in how Hawthorns youngsters go at afl level after having watched them for a bit, so it actually broadens your outlook a bit. Speaking of ex Richmond players at Frankston, it was pretty full-on for a while there, Steve Ryan, Des Ryan, Justin Pickering, Michael Pickering?, Matthew Dundas, Andy Goodwin, Chris Pym, Chris Sullivan, i definately know there's more, just can't think of them off the top of my head. Can anyone remember any others i've missed? Box Hill seemed to have a few tigers passing through as well, like tim livingstone, adam slater, Mark Trewella, in fact, there were a heck of a lot of richmond players from the 80's early 90's in the VFA, Simon Clarke, Laffy, Ian Herman, i guess richmond's eye for recruiting back then left a little to be desired.

I live in Bendigo. However, there is no chance in hell that I would support the Bendigo B*mbers. They are a wholy owned subsidery of Essendon with little letf of what was a fledgling VFA club. I too have had some problems over the years with the different affiliations; I thought highly of Dandenong and Northcote and used to attend games regularly, neither of which now exist. I liked Sunshine, but they also folded. I was most impressed by their ground, which was eventually taken over by Soccer (shudderrrrr). After Dandy went, I considered Springvale. However, their affiliation with St. Kilda turned me off. Now they don't exist. There is a new club called "Casey", which does nothing for me. I was very ambivalent to Preston, but now my AFL club (Carlton) has affiliated with them. Preston had close ties to Collingwood, a team I still consider diabolical. I still have very mixed feeling about that, although I am trying to be positive and to make it work. As time goes on my self interest and the need to be involved has softened my feelings and made me get into it. In some ways that may be a good thing - most other teams in this comp that I have really felt something for have disappeared. NB: Frankston and Port supporters - you do not want me on board. Your club would be extinct in no time!

My old man was born and raised in Box Hill and thus was a Stangers fan. Also, he was raised a Hawthorn fan. Thus, the eventual affiliation worked out fine for me.
