Ken Gannon says we play Sth Australia here in Victoria in 05
According to an interview in the footy record, Ken Gannon says they are looking at a range of possibilities for the game, including playing it as a curtain raiser before an Adelaide Crows game at the MCG. Personally I wouldn't like to see that happen, and would prefer the game to be a stand-alone fixture, or even better as a curtain raiser to an AFL State of Origin match (Buckleys chance I know). If the game is played alongside an AFL game, I would prefer the match to be played after the AFL game, such as a twilight game at Telstra Dome. I would be interested to see what you people thought. Another possibility that wasn't mentioned was fixturing the game at a country venue.

At least you have a football record to read. There was no VFL record for Frankston vs Werribee game available as the courier never showed up with them. The match should be played at Northport Oval There should be 5000 to 8000 people there, it should not be before an AFL game. It would be a great atmosphere.

Nope, don't want a curtain raiser. Gannon says about playing it before a Crows game here, but the problem with that is only AFL supporters of one Victorian based club will get exposed to it. They need to play it as a stand alone fixture, but I don't know if I like TEAC Oval as the venue and I don't know if I like Optus Oval.

Not sure what the costs would be to open the Phone Box (I like it!) but you would need to make the game as cheap as possible to attract AFL followers along to the game. Like a $5 Adult for any VFL or AFL member, and $10 family tickets... Some system for discounting entry would be needed. A packed North Port oval would provide the atmosphere.. Maybe they should play it there and hope the weather is ok? To maximise the crowd, could or should the game be played at night? It would require some co-ordination with the AFL, which is no easy task. The old SoO matches were occasionally played during the working week, but I don't think that would be agreeable to the clubs or the players anymore.

[/quote] Yeah, that was pathetic. But Frankston Football Club are just as bad. You can't tell me that the courier deliver them Sunday morning, so when they didn't arrive Friday or yesterday why wasn't someone from Frankston on the phone chasing them up? People go to a game expecting to have some access to a teamlist.

Don't want it as a curtain raiser, but I'd love the game here in Victoria, especially on a footy starved weekend. 8)

If the game is played outside of an AFL SoO fixture which seems likely.. at a ground like Optus or TEAC oval, what (if any game) would you like to see as a curtain-raiser? Could the VFL organise a double-header with either the VAFA or a VFL U18 game to get two interstate matches on the day? Would be a good chance to increase the crowd at the game, and would really improve the atmosphere. Thoughts?
