I have been to Norwood and watched a night match between Norwood and West Adelaide in 2003. The ground reminds me a bit like the old Lake Oval South Melbourne. Nothing wrong with the ground and is a great ground to watch footy with plenty of atmosphere. As for feral or fiery supporters, the old VFA had many hard core feral supporters the would more than rival the croweaters. Currently the Frankston boys from the hill would match anything from South Australia. I have watched games in Adelaide between North v Port at Prospect Oval, West v Port at Richmond Oval, Sturt v South at Unley as well as a trip to Norwood Oval under lights. Might make the trip for the VFL v SA match.

Decades ago I went to a night match between Melbourne and Norwood at Norwood Oval. Can't remember who won. Ground seemed OK. Norwood played in their own jumper, which was practically identical to Melbourne's, so Melborne played in an "alternative" strip. I regretted going to the match in a car with Victorian number plates. We were given hell! Relieved to get away unscathed!
i don't know what mickyj is on about (too much wrestling), i like going to norwood oval to watch footy, it has a great atmosphere, great food (better than most other ovals) & it is similar to port melbournes oval as far as size goes & for you blokes over there it is about 10 minutes from the city, it'll be hard to find a car park space with shopping etc on that day & you miss out on the talent parade you get at a night game because a lot of girls go to the footy before going out it is great viewing
Perhaps I just hate Norwood  or to much wrestling. Bring on the lads from frankston I am sure the great loud and unwashed from elizabeth will enjoy the challenge . But we shouldnt encouraging crowd violence. Vic number plates you were lucky to get out alive .think of the poor former vic wrestler I watched last week the entire crowd was chanting kick a vic. cheers

seriously though if any of you guys consider to making the trip over here & are concerned about the security, i'd suggest to stand/sit in the family friendly area (ffa) at the ground, i take my son (8yo) every week & we sit in the ffa & have never seen trouble, the only trouble you ever hear about involves central, norwood, sturt & port with the first 2 the main culprits, but it usually happens at night games when idiots are charged up from drinking all day before they get to the ground, cheers  ps, mickyj i hate norwood as well almost as much as i hate port but as i said the atmosphere, ground & food are great (try the hamburgers  )

i would think you'd cop heaps (verbally) but as for safety etc you'd be fine, hell sit next to me if you want, i have no fear going to the footy, infact the only time i've been to the footy that i had to move was at the mcg, i went to a nth melb-essendon match (it was the game misiti done his knee) & i was copping lollies, stones or similar at the back of my head (presuming because i had a glenelg top on) but i f you can handle the banter you'll be fine

I'm 45 and this old bloke wanted to duke it out with me in a trail game and my 18 yo was sitting there laughing at him .And they won lol. Its footy so it should all be good fun ,but as bayman says you'd have more trouble with Centrals Port etc. But be very scared if you hear "you dogs" I would think the umpires would coping more than the lone Vic fan

Just wait to they see the away changerooms with no toliets in them. I don't think any of those Vics have been to a Central game at night or seen any of their fans.
