Body:
Another Daniher in red and black Monday, 8 October 2007 Essendon has officially secured 18-year-old Darcy Daniher with its third-round draft selection following this morning's father-son bidding process. Daniher had nominated Essendon as his preferred Club and with no other Club nominating him as a first round selection, the Bombers were able to secure him with draft selection 39. Daniher - the son of Anthony Daniher - played his junior football with the Calder Cannons and was a member of the Premiership side that defeated the Murray Bushrangers. With Anthony having also played in excess of 100 games with Sydney, Darcy was forced to choose between Essendon and the Swans. Dainher is a 192cm key position player who can play forward or back. Daniher and coach Matthew Knights will do a media conference early this afternoon. Essendon, having finished 11th this year, it is entitled to selections 6, 23, 39 (used on father-son selection of Daniher), 55, 71, 87, 103, 119. There were three father-son nominations considered this morning. The following information was released by the AFL. Jaxson Barham (Geelong Falcons), Collingwood - No bid made. Collingwood is now bound to select Barham at the 2007 NAB AFL Draft with its last available selection, to be determined once the club has finalised its selection numbers for this year's Draft. Darcy Daniher (Calder Cannons), Essendon - Essendon, Round three (currently number 39). The Kangaroos bid their round two selection (currently number 32) and this was matched by Essendon's next selection in round three (currently number 39). Essendon is now bound to select Daniher at the 2007 NAB AFL Draft with its round three selection. Adam Donohue (Geelong Falcons), Geelong - No bid made. Geelong is now bound to select Donohue at the 2007 NAB AFL Draft with its last available selection, to be determined once the club has finalised its selection numbers for this year's Draft.
