It was a tight first quarter with just 3 goals kicked and the Dolphins leading by 7 points at quarter time. In the 2nd quarter the Dolphins came out full of run with Eames and Clarke dominating in the ruck and the midfield continually gaining possession from the stoppages as the Dolphins kicked 9 goals to the Borough's 2 to give the Dophins a 54 point half time. Justin Berry kicked 4 goals in the 2nd Quarter. Frankston's continued to pile on the pressure in the 3rd quarter adding another 5 goals to 3 to extend the advantage to 63 points at the last change. Port Melbourne came out with all guns firing to begin the final quarter kicking 6 goals the 8 minutes to reduce the margin to 23 points half way through the last quarter before the Dolphins steadied with goals to Dale Whelan and Justin Berry sealed the game as the Dolphins ran out winners by 29 points. Justin Berry, Ash Roberts, Matthew Burns and Neil Winterton in his 100th VFL were Frankston's best players. Stephen Brewer, John Baird and Sam Pleming were the best for the Borough. Despite letting Port back into the game in the last quarter it is a good start to 2007 campaign. Frankston have the Bye next weekend before a game against Geelong at Skilled Stadium on Saturday April 21 at 1pm. A 7 goal 3rd quarter by the Borough gave them the advantage they needed to run out 19 point winners.
