Round 19 - Port Melbourne vs Williamstown
Lets make this the match-day thread and keep it on topic. Port Melbourne v Williamstown 1:10PM TEAC Oval (North Port Oval) ABC TV from 1PM This great rivalry between the VFA's two greatest clubs continues with another great twist. The inclusion of Nathan Buckley to the Seagulls line-up should see a bumper crowd turn up on Saturday. Both teams sit inside the final 8 and could meet again in the first week of the finals. Who will match up on Buckley? I reckon Obst or possibly Hazell if he spends time in the forward line, or Spriggs (or perhaps McGlynn) might get the match-up if he plays in the midfield.

Should be a great game of football. Good crowd, Big TV Ratings. Should be a good game of football and I think Willy will win by less than 3 goals, should be close all game. Remember early this season they played a draw.

Cant wait for the big clash. Who do you think will get a game from the extended interchange. I think Smith should have a week in the 2's however i feel they might be reluctant to take this risk. Looks to me as if its between Shaw and Pinwill. Tough call to make!

Hmm.. not easy: Nayna - Hasn't played a senior game this year, and didn't play last week. Unlikely Milhuisen - Surprised he is not in the starting side, but I guess it's tough to get a spot. I'd include Milly. 1st spot Debruin - May struggle just because I think Milhuisen may get prefernce at this stage. Smith - Due for a spell in the two's, was better last week, but will that keep him in the side? Pinwill - Can be good in the centre. Uncomplicated footballer who at his best just kicks it forward.. Can try to do too much and get himself into trouble. 2nd spot Johnstone - I rate Johnstone, but his opportunities have been limited this season. May not get a spot. Probably vying for the same spot as Shaw. His advantage would be fitness Bonaddio - Much needed big man. Good change ruckman and can take marks and kick goals. 3rd spot Shaw - Returning back to the senior side. Missed some footy with a car accident. Would hopefully be 'up' for this one against his old side. 4th spot

Thank

Port reserves really struggled. They looked tired and reading between the lines some looked dejected, (possibly about getting dropped or not getting opportunities. Willy had a strong confined game plan that really choked the Port boys. Allen was Ok, Pinwill got a bit of it but looked tired or lacking match fitness, Boot's intensity was solid but in general the boys were beaten across the park. The 1's started well intensity wise but were just outclassed. Use of the ball was very poor into the forward 50 and apart from Spriggs there was nothing much in the middle. Why the start rowe on the ball has me scratching my head. He is an outside player that needs space. His disposal is OK but only when he is streaming along the wing. Ghazi gave them a serve at quarter time for no real effect. His message "GO FOR THE BALL". Very insightful stuff!!! Overall.. It appeared to become the buckley show!

I thought Williamstown would win reasonably easy...but not by 20 goals...I thought maybe a ten goal win.....and their VFL listed players did really well to prove it just wasn't the Buckley/Licuria show...

Sandy. The most successful club in the past 30 years

What do you reckon the crowd was? Went along with the kids and even though there was a blowout I reckon the atmosphere was pretty good. But that may have been linked to how well Willy went!
