Go the mighty Borough! Shees did I really day that?LOL But at least Port are a real football club unlike some of the made up AFL seconds teams like the other three teams in the finals.
Its a bit rich these Port supporters now calling themselves a "real football club". I laughed when some character started screaming that as the players left the ground after the win at Casey last week. Port went into two marriages. They both failed dismally. The only club that REMAINS a true, NEVER tainted football club, is Frankston. And that just means that Frankston is the last VFA club to remain as a club. Thats not to say that there is a problem with the aligned sides per se. Just making the point that these Port guys touting that they are a real club is a bit over the top. When they tie up with Sydney next year, what will they be saying then? As for Billy, well, if you really do hate this competition so much, why don't you just move on?

The attendance today was a bit disappointing for a final between 2 clubs that I thought still had a fair bit of support, although given the margin probably reflective of the expected outcome. I was also surprised that the Coburg theme song included the "Yellow & Black" tag line, I know we live in a world of alignments but couldn't they have dubbed in a "red & dark blue"...
around 30 minutes after the match has finished....wonder if Saade Ghazi has got the tap on the shoulder from Peter Saultry saying au revoir Saade. like Gerald Fitzgerald got after the 3004 GF.... Or maybe he'll get another year... I await with great interest
We are no where near the year 3004.

Oh and btw I hope the AFL Geelong reserves do win the VFL (SIC) GF which will prove once and for all what this fake comp really is in the minds of Victorians sports fans = second rate.
You seem to take an unusually high interest in a quote "fake" "second rate" competition Maybe you should be supporting a local comp such as the EDFL where none of these issues arise...Mind you Williamstown or Coburg reserves would beat any team in these comps...unusual that....coming from a second rate competition...but that's life...I'm just glad I've been able to move on..

Sandy. The most successful club in the past 30 years

obviously I am hugely disappointed that the season is over at senior level, but I thought dispite the margin, that once again Port Melbourne had plenty of the ball and could have gone close to pinching a win, but fell down badly across the HF line. Well done to Coburg who were too good on the day. I thought during 'Coburg' theme song, that if Port Melbourne are to again hold a premiership cup aloft, we need to continue to recruit quality players coming out of the AFL. We need to ensure that we retain as much of the list as possible, and that those in the Reserves (who continue on to next Sundays prelim against Willy) feel like there may be a spot for them in the senior side next year.

The Borough made it through to a Grand Final. I think the mix was probably too Sydney focused, Luke Cotchett should have played over Adam Schneider but I guess alignments throw up these kind of issues. Despite getting knocked out of the finals race today, I am still extremely proud of how the players went about it, and I think the supporters DO feel that once again we have our club back. I know that the administration has said they will continue to look at the possibilty of alignments, but I maintain that Port should stand alone. As much as I hope Port Melbourne remain stand-alone, if Port and Sydney were too align, I'd hope that it was at most a partial alignment with no more than 4-6 in the side per week. Anyway, this isn't the topic for this thread. Fanning will deserve the seasons break as he has done a power of work today and throughout. Baird should go close to winning Ports B&F he has had an extremely good season. Having to cover for Livo's position stretched the backline with Coburgs forward setup. I'll post more later.. feeling a little exhausted at the moment.

How do you feel about Williamstown singing the Collingwood song?
I'd prefer it if they'd stuck with their original song. One of the attractions of the VFL for me at least is the differences - old suburban grounds, getting close to the huddles, the different jumpers, colours and histories. I don't think there would be too many AFL, VFL or neutral supporters that could care less about ensuring that the aligned VFL side has the same theme song or for that matter nickname (Coburg Tigers)

Particularly from our 2's. I hope I'm wrong but tell me why Boots, Gilham, Kelly, Langford, Shaw, etc would want to stay. Their is probably a handful in the ones also that would just say "mate i cant get given a go past the name players and could work half has hard and make 3 times as much in local footy!
