Geelong v Coburg crowd 8000 Geelong v Willy crowd 8000 North Ballarat v Coburg crowd 6500 North Ballarat v Willy crowd 6500 That's about max you will get 8000- that's with good weather as well. I was going to the NRL Prelim. Now they are clashing. Spewing. I went to the NRL to see Storm demolish Broncos. I have been going to the VFA Grand Final since Max Papley's seagulls lost to Prahran in 1970. I'll be there. Unfortunately the days of the Junction Oval ad Toorak Park are a distant memory. Ons/Footyman etc- we usually meet at Bridie O'Reilly's in Brunswick (old Sarah Sands Hotel) at midday for a few ales then head to Princes Park. We treat it like a footy social day where a big group of us catch up for a few beers. Normally stand on the wing in front of the old stand (Northern side wing).
The Melbourne Storm playing a prelim final on VFL Grand Final day. Yet another 'event' to dent the crowd. Melbourne Show, AFL finals, NRL Prelim Final, VAFA Grand Final, plus a number of metro and country league Grand Finals. Expect a crowd of 6,000 there this year.
Yep 6000 will see it out this year and much less if its cold and raining It will look just awfull at Princess Park which still has a capacity of 36,000.
[quote:a565a94f60="bcarbonaro"]The attitudes shown by a lot of the AFL supporters towards our competition is absolutely disgusting. Too many call it the "reserves" and make devaluing comments about the competition.
For Geelong supporters the VFL team is our "reserves"
Thats what I said a n AFL reserves team will win the VFL GF so what does thet make the comp in the eyes of the general public brainwashed by the AFL besotted media?

The best scenario for Grand Final day would be Willy v Geelong, given good weather you could get 10,000,worst scenario Nth Ballarat v Coburg lucky to attract a couple of thousand. If you want an entertaining day get along to Bridies from midday onwards, you'll certainly see some characters of the vfa and all featured on vfa's video camera. If we struggle to get a crowd we'll have to get the old vfa estimator in,does anyone remember that?,if there was no official gate taken the estimate would appear in the paper about 3 times the actual figure.

Part of my Grand Final tradition is to get there for the start of the Ressies. Espeicially so if Port Melbourne progress through next week. I believe the crowd could be as low as 5000, but if Geelong make it through, and win their AFL Preliminary final on the Saturday, then the numbers could be up around the 10,000 mark.

I reckon a Willy v Geelong GF is a big chance of 12,000 or so, weather permitting of course. If Collingwood's still alive, then, like 2003 against us, the crowd can swell with jumpers on. Geelong's more likely to be there (VFL and AFL), and there'd be a fair bit of interest i reckon. Coburg could surprise, with Richmond fans (I'm one) desperate to see any form of success they can. In 1989, the under 19's GF was played at Waverley a week after the GF because of a draw throughout the finals. Guess what, 10,000 watched Richmond defeat North Melbourne, and i can assure you, there were only a few North supporters there! Willy v Coburg, well, Willy would have at least 2,000-3,000, Collingwood could bring 6,000-7,000, coburg, perhaps 500, and Richmond a chance to bring 4,000 or so. A North Ballarat v Coburg game . . . yep, could be quite ordinary.
the crowd can swell with jumpers on.
That just sounds ridiculous! I meant people jumping on the bandwagon, not physically bigger due to wearing jumpers!
