Preliminary Finals Preview
Here is the previews for this weekend. There is a good chance that stations 774 ABC Melbourne, 1116 SEN and 3AW could be covering the games as well. SATURDAY Geelong vs North Ballarat at TEAC Oval,Port Melbourne 1:10pm(ABC TV, Casey Radio, 3XX 1611) This should be an interesting clash between the high flying Cats and the never say die Roosters. Geelong have beaten the Roosters in both meetings this year and are now premership favorites but how can you count the Roosters after their last 6 quarters of footy. The Cats AFL contingent could be the difference come days end. Meetings in 2007: Round 4 Sunday April 29th Skilled Stadium Geelong 18-17(125) def North Ballarat 9-11(65) (Grima(Geel) 5 goals, Sansbury(NB) 3 goals) Tenace and Josh Hunt best for the Cats, Lower and Trotter best for the Roosters Round 18 Saturday 11th August Austar Arena Geelong 21-15(141) def North Ballaray 10-10(70) (Gardiner(Geel) 5 goals, Urch(NB) 3 goals) West and Josh Hunt best for the Cats, Feery and Lower best for the Roosters. My Tip: Geelong by 27 points SUNDAY Williamstown vs Coburg Tigers at TEAC Oval,Port Melbourne 1:10pm(ABC TV,Casey Radio, 3XX 1611) The Seagulls are coming off a week off after their thrilling win against the Zebras. The Tigers are coming off a work man like win against the Borough. Coburg thrashed the Seagulls in their one and only meeting back in July. A lot has happened since then and this should be a cracker of game hopefully in front of a big crowd. Only Meeting in 2007: Round 14 Sunday 15th July Coburg City Oval Coburg Tigers 15-14(104) def Williamstown 5-8(38 ) (Kingsley(Cob) 5 goals, Ryan Cook(Will) 2 goals) Krakouer and Sewell best for the Tigers, Nicholls and Picken best for the Seagulls. My Tip: Coburg Tigers by 3 points

SEN are covering Grand Final only, still waiting to hear back from 3AW and ABC Radio.

Why did they change the start time for Sunday? It was 2.10pm, now we're starting at 1.10pm. I'd love to know the logic behind it. Perhaps they'll start the Grand Final at Midday or something next week as well just cos they love everyone having to wake up early, make them rush their jobs in the morning to get to the game and have the twos boys kicking the dew off the grass. When most competitions start their matches later during finals, most as late as 2.30pm, the good old clowns at the VFL decide to start their games while the Sunday Roast is still cooking in the oven. The VFL is such an un-fan friendly competition. 1pm starts are useless for fans, nobody likes them. Watch how many people turn up late. As for them opening the gates at 8am on Sunday morning for the fans - geez I reckon there will be a few who camp outside TEAC Oval on Saturday night just to make sure they get a good seat!

Grand Final confirmed times are Reserves at 11am, Seniors at 2:15pm

Footyman,I agree with everything you said,I can't believe this mob's incompetance. As for the abc,if they're so inflexible that they can't alter their bloody arts programming by an hour I want my 8 cents back.

You're telling me the ABC couldn't move "The Shadow of Mary Poppins" (a REPEAT no less) from 4-5pm to 1-2pm? The ABC were promoting last weekend the match was to be broadcast from 2pm on Sunday, so they stuffed up too? Heck the communication is pathetic isnt it? If I did my job so poorly repeatedly I'd get the sack. Surely there are numerous people whose job it was to get this right. They should have checked it, communicated it properly and confirmed the details with the ABC many weeks ago. Perhaps they should get you into AFL Vic as their media man Robbo, you're always on the ball when it comes to TV and radio times and do a damn good job of writing match reports too.
