Can you post your 3-2-1 votes from the Casey team over the weekend?

I have to be a bit picky with the standard of todays coverage fellas, geez I heard too many blues in the part I listened in to. First it started with the VFL morning show. And continued into the night. Williamstown v Box Hill was a reserves practice match. It wasnt the first reserves match of the premiership season. Chris Weaver wanted to tell us it was the first night game of VFL since Waverley in 2000 - well York Park and Bendigo have hosted night footy since. Bendigo even hosted a final under lights. Simon Petch whinged about the Casey interchanges all night - I'd hate him to be a jockey cos he'd be whipping the horse still if it was tailed off 20 lengths last. No need to flog a dead horse! The boundary riders preview was good, and she went to the effort to name some 'important recruits' - a couple were so important they played in the reserves match. Check the teams next time. The half time interview with Van Rheenan was good innovation - but floundered badly. The Van Rheenan story is a great one - he was born in Sth Africa, he was rookie listed from the Eastern FL. Did anyone ask him when did he come to Australia? When did John Beveridge first let him know the Saints were interested? And most importantly, why did he not play tonight? Instead someone asked him a question he'd already answered. Then to top it all off, some bozo kept cutting into the final quarter to annouce the country music hour was coming up soon, and then just cut you blokes off mid sentence a minute or so after the siren. Pretty poor. I stick up for the Casey coverage a lot, I reckon what you blokes do is great. The quality of the call is second to none. But other community stations are continually improving their footy coverage, you need to get basic stuff right. The above is not a negative spray or anything, but feedback as a listener.

Fair points. I tuned in the VFL morning show and was disappointed they didn't have decent interviews lined up. Some stats guy and then the PR guy from AFL Victoria. But no coaches or players. In fairness, it is usually good. As for Simon Petch, he's a reasonable caller but he tends to get hysterical when something out of the ordinary happens.

All fair points fellas.... The Saturday Morning Footy Show is being hampered due to the fact we dont have an updated VFL Media Guide.. Its RND 2 and we are still waiting, with so many new coaches we need updated details to contact new coach and staff. But we did say that the interviews from Brad Gotch and Gavin Brown would be played during our Saturday Night broadcast. The Night broadcast, once again fair points footyman, it wasnt the best but it wasnt the best game to broadcast. Both teams preferred to zone off rather then make a contest, and when players made a contest there was always a free kick to break up the play. And that bozo your right, I was at the broadcast and wasnt aware this was happening, but just shows our broadcasts dont get any support apart from the ones helping out at the broadcasts I thought the season started well with 2 great broadcasts in Round One, but the standard of footy was a lot better. To say we dont look to improve is a bit harsh, we have added plenty of experience to our special comments ranks, and reduced the numbers in the box. I'm just hoping we can rebound and make next Saturday Night's broadcast better then this week. Tune in from 1.30pm for today's big clash at Box Hill

I think we all felt a bit disappointed afterwards with how the coverage had gone. Bad error on my part about night footy. I should have emphasised that it was the first home-and-away night game in the Melbourne area since the Waverley days. The first we knew about van Rheenen was at about 1/4 time, which really does not give much time to research his background when you're also calling the game. Just had to go on my little general knowledge of the bloke. I thought Bec Beed did well though to tee up an interview at short notice though, and full credit to Luke - he was very engaging in his responses. First game of the year for a few of us (myself included) and it was rusty. Further to what Kain said in our defence, there is no media guide, infrequent official website updates and little mainstream reporting about the comp. Very little information is currently publically available about the teams, so researching is more time consuming and frustrating than is usually the case. There will be a massive improvement with upcoming broadcasts. Thanks, Chris W

Thanks for replying fellas, I know you give up your time for no reward and lack of cooperation from clubs. All the best for the coming weeks and keep up the good work. Hopefully the issues with the Saturday night coverage can be fixed, Im sure the VFL coverage has more listeners than those old Poms on beforehand or the country music crap afterwards. Last night was an ugly game, I'm not convinced Box Hill will provide any more of a contest next week but hopefully you get something a bit more enjoyable to call.

Excellent morning line-up CaseyRadio. Will be tuning in to hear the Gary Ayres interview... Can you ask him when we will hear the classic Ayres about the Pitts, the Bairds, the Smiths, the Livingstons, the Bonaddios, the Nahases etc :)
