Williamstown v Casey
Anybody happen to see that game yesterday? How did Williamstown look? They haven't been playing great footy in the last month from what I've seen but they've done enough on most occassions to still get the four points (obviously the Nth Ballarat game was the exception). Good to read in the paper this morning that Adam Cook kicked three goals, I like him up forward, thought he was hung out to try a bit in defence a couple of weeks ago against Collingwood. Also good to see Lockwood, Beaumont, McKenzie and Lyons among that side yesterday as well. How did those guys play? And how about Casey? 7 wins from 7 games at home this year, but not as good on the road. Going to be competitive in the finals? Suppose it depends if they get the first final at home!

I tell you Footyman - It's starting to look like a Williamstown v Port Melbourne grand final... what a way to celebrate 150 years of footy!

Perhaps North Ballarat the challenger. And like I said last week, most of us would be happy if they got there just to see their coach get a much deserved premiership. Going to be a pretty exciting finals series!!!!

Pretty good game between two very good sides despite the blustery conditions. No punches pulled as both teams went hammer and toe for four quarters. Williamstwon just a little too strong in the end, probably could have won by a bit more if it weren't for inaccurate kicking. Full credit o the Scorpions though who refused to give in. The tackling by the Willy boys in the last quarter was outstadning and probably proved to be the difference in the end. Good to see those blokes mentioned not only get a game but play pretty important roles for Willy. McKenzie was very good all day across half back and in the back pocket. Would have had close to 25 touches for the day and was one of Willy's best. Lockwood proved a real spark through the midfield and up forward. His tackling all day proved very important. Beaumont played a defensive role on the wing on Firoa in the first half and did a pretty good job. In the second half he played across half back and was very solid. Used the ball well and is pretty good overhead. Lyons popped up for some important possessions and kicked a good goal. He also looked lively. All in all a pretty good team performance and pretty good result against a Casey side with some experience and 14 Saints players. Very good game of VFL football.

Blustery did you say? Surely not, this far from Casey Fields. I understood from footyman that it never gets over a mild zephyr, except in Cranbourne.

You don't. Last time I looked too they had three times as much grandstand seating as you for spectator comfort out of the elements. Oh yeah, and Williamstown is on the beach. Your ground is way, way inland chief.

good game of footy, disappointed with the result obviously but i was happy with the application. 3 pretty even quarters of footy, but i thought williamstowns defensive pressure, partucularly in the front half in the last quarter won them the game! It's hard when Armitage sat the last quarter out, he was a spark in the 3rd term, and Robert Eddy sat the 1st out, but, is suppose thats part of being aligned and we have to deal with it. Alex Silvagni was a huge loss at 3/4 time with Ferguson then having to shift back we struggled for a target up front. Chris Dunne seems to pop up in the last quarter of every game, and Kyle mathews was a spark in the last. thought the crowd was pretty good and pretty vocal, they got involved a bit when Williamstown had a run on the last. The Umpiring all day for both sides was a disgrace and the people at the top really have to have a big look at it. On top of some average decisions, I Was walking past the interchange at one stage and overherd a couple of people say it looks as if the Umpires purposely get themselves out of position so they don't have to make any tough calls in the FWD 50's found it amusing. Williamstown seem to be doing enough, just, at the moment, and for Casey it was a real opportunity lost, instead of sitting 1st we now drop to 4th in a red hot season at the top. Will be good to see Nth Ballarat in a few weeks, thank god its at Casey Fields![/quote]
