Reserves First Semi Final - Box Hill vs Sandringham
Box Hill Hawks 5.3 8.5 13.7 19.14 (128) Sandringham 2.4 5.6 10.10 13.16 (94) GOALS: Box Hill Hawks: Bayliss 4 Smithwick 3 Hill 2 Hoegel 2 O'Sullivan 2 Cross 2 Angelopoulos Shore Nye Taylor Sandringham: Gribbin 4 Summons 2 McConnell 2 Lockwood 2 Gilchrist Gilder Gileno BEST: Box Hill Hawks: Cross Warby Bull Hill Smithwick Bayliss Sandringham: Johnson Cleeve Gribbin Williams Dean McConnell Good effort by Box Hill today who seemed to have the Zebras' measure for most of the day and sealed the deal with the first 5 goals of the final quarter. The game was marred by some of the most ludicrous, frivilous, generous and frequent application of the 50 metre penalty I have ever seen. 8O Coburg and Box Hill will be a tight contest in the preliminary Final next week; with both Club's senior teams out of the Premiership race, only qualified players will be eligible for selection. After an unbeaten home and away season, the Tigers might find it hard to bounce back after receiving such a hiding from Williamstown in the 2nd Semi.

Daunting task of facing Coburg on the rebound from there 1st loss...Guys were devestated after the game and having the weeks off sure left them flat...Will be massive improvement Sunday.

What do you think of the rule that allowed a regular AFL seniors player Simon Taylor take part in the game?

Coburg reserves straight sets ?? It has happened many a times over the years when a side has been undefeated and bombed out in finals. Sometimes it is mentally, other times it gets beat when a side has improved for one reason or another. Finals football is a completely different ball game. Coburg won't find it easy against Box Hill. They will start hot favourites but would have lost a bit of confidence especially as Williamstown had only kicked 3.13 to half time. Coburg eventually lost by 66 points.

The Burgers' narrowest win in the home and away round was by 8 points at Box Hill a few weeks before the Finals. Since then Box Hll has defeated WIlliamstown. Coburg will start favourites; more like lukewarm rather than hot though.

Sandringham battled the whole game. Good effort by the young team. Better luck next year. Well done Zebra Reserves.

:D Sandy reserves played at their best against a much taller and possibly better team in Box Hill. Sandy coach Paul Howroyd got the team into the finals after a average season and showed the players that if they tried hard they could be a finalist side ,which they did and Sandringham is proud of them and look to next season with many continuing on . go zebs zebra
