Not sure the standard can be the same if, as you assert, there is an increasing gap between the good and bad games, but there you can go. And by the way I'm not sure there has been an increase in the salary cap oin the past two years. It's just that some clubs adhere to it more than others

Rather the structure of what is included in the Cap, such as the stagerring of payments to players coming back from interstate such as David Robins.
Anyone going?
I'll be watching this one, while in country Victoria. Looking forward to the Magner, Mariagliani vs Ray and Ward at the centre bounces tomorrow.

Maybe 'averaged out' would be a better term (ie whereas in previous season I've seen more games that I'd rate at 6s or 7s out of 10, this year seems to have been either 4s and 5s, or 8s and 9s).
In the past a stand alone couldnt win a flag. With AFL lists getting younger and younger there are not as many AFL players in there mid to late 20s playing regular VFL football. This is the main reason why a Stand alone team can now compete and compete well. So in alot of games now you have strong, experienced VFL players vs young skinny AFL listed players.
At last some rational thought on the alignment situation. Well said burra. May the best team win today, aligned or otherwise.
