horne didnt get a vote and made the team of the year which is surprising, not getting a vote that is.
Just looked then he only got named in Coburg's best six players in eight games this year and was never named best on ground by them. In fact only twice was he in Coburg's best three. Based on that it'll be interesting to see where he finishes in Coburg's B&F.
silvagni a bit stiff not to get a gig in the backline?
Your right only beaten once this year and that was against the new Liston Trophy winner Podsiadly the way he received the ball even Scarlett would have struggled. Silvagni is only 20 a big year next needs to bulk up though.
Umpires really don't notice defenders all that much though so not really surprising
Johny Baird would agree with that. 2 votes after the first 12 rounds ? Do the umpires really have any clues ? 8O

bulk up, hes got a fair amount of size about him already, dont wanna lose too much dash either by putting on weight. he was rarely beaten so i dont think size is an issue possibly a bit more experience. also he lost a little bit of form after being on the sidelines for 4 or 5 weeks, which you would expect from most players out for that long. has been talki of him being picked up and i probably would have slotted him in instead of horne, even though i do rate horne
from the backline Horne Silvester Biddlecomb Picken Baird Goodes Stretton B Johnson Roach Kennedy Pods Mariglianni Barlow Sautner Nahas Stevennson Pinwll Summers INTERCAHNGE James Byrne Wall Kenna Iacobucci
just noticed that kennedy and marrigliani were name half forward although were not seen there for the majority of the year. marrigiliani has turned him self from a half forward into a top vfl midfielder, and kennedy has always been a midfielder

On the team of the year, the Roosters' Matt Sharkey can consider himself unlucky to have missed out on selection. Has had a great year. Goes about his work quietly and most effectively.

There must be more than an element of surprise when umpires are involved in the decision making process! I can't recall who it was at the moment, but in the not too distant past, a club best & fairest, who was expected to go close to winning the Liston, failed to score a vote! I thought John Baird would go close, and that being scrupulously fair might have helped him. However, Pods is a very worthy winner. Hope he goes on next year.
